The only center forward on the team (Füllkrug) played 2BL last season and had his first game for Germany ... two days ago. Go figure.

I am a big fan of World Cup watching at the beer garden in summer but I cannot get excited about this winter World Cup. Already missing the BL and 2BL football and will likely watch more NFL games than World Cup matches in the coming weeks. Go Bills!
It's definitely going to be interesting to have all the top leagues in the world stop to play a winter WC. If I had to guess, it will be the last time it is done this way.

I’m heading to Doha tomorrow. Pretty sure the public transport logistics and fan accommodations will be a train wreck…but I’ll overlook that when I’m at the stadiums! Even tho unfortunately I won’t be enjoying a beer or two. Go Canada!

2022 World Cup Thread ⚽️ Dubai -

Wow….. Head of FIFA in an hour long rant just making things worse and worse……

“I think for what we Europeans have been doing around the world for the last 3,000 years, we should be apologizing for the next 3,000 years, before starting to give moral lessons,” Infantino said.

They’ve already shifted the narrative to “if you criticize our decision to host a soccer tournament in a dangerously hot sauna in exchange for probable cash bribes, then you’re a… (wait for it) … Racist!”

Everything is racist now. I think every time I breathe is racist now because I’m so white and evil

As always, they're trying to control the uncomfortable narrative.

Editing this post, ok, I'm racist for the HUMAN race. We evolved from the primordial, cavemen, early man... it's 2023.

I think the best course of action for FIFA and its leadership would be to stop speaking and let the show go on. Nobody wants to hear from them, especially with regard to lectures on morality.

FIFA agreed to the location with full knowledge of potentially major problems. It was very obvious as well, ask anyone who knows that region of rigid dictatorship.

FIFA could cancel the games before heat stroke and other problems happen. There could be various lawsuits as well considering breach of contract. So what's the deal with FIFA and bribes, how bad is the corruption and did this upcoming host nation give any special 'accommodation' above and beyond the written contracts?

As an Italian I have no dog in this fight, unfortunately (well, at least we're playing a SUPER-EXCITING friendly game against Austria tonight!! How about that!!).

That said, I will root more for the players than for the teams; my favorites are Giroud and Ronaldo, so France and Portugal will get my support this time. My third choice is Canada because Ancelotti said that he supports the team and I support Ancelotti, so...

The 7y old son of a Canadian buddy of mine predicted Canada to reach the quarter finals where they would go out at the hands of Brazil...

Unfortunately, he cannot be trusted as he also saw England make the final and didn't expect Argentina to survive the group phase.

I’ve been here for 4 days already after a miserably long flight from NYC. It’s definitely quite an experience. I have 20 games I have tickets to over the 3 weeks I’m here.

Have to pay for three wives and that weekend 'marriage' somehow. My second wife drives a Lambo, didn't you see the viral video?

Well, well, well.

That makes the Germany v Spain game important, no playing out a tame draw now.
