Oysterflex yay or nay? And why ?

So I've been browsing through the net and the forum and can't find a definitive answer.

Some say it's amazing and so comfortable they can wear it for weeks and some say it's unwearable and hurts after a couple hours to the point you have to take it off.

So how does one choose ?
I'm not currently thinking about any models on oyterflex. Just a general thought.

I do like WG daytona metalgrey dial on oysterflex looks badass.

I’ve shared photos a few times here and my 2 cents is Yay specifically as an add-on for the DSSD…

I found that after taking the Oysterflex in the shower, water, it completely changed its stance and became super comfortable.

It was odd in the beginning though.

Nay, especially on PM models. It just doesn't feel right. My AD was heavy pushing OF PM pieces on me including the Newman Daytona and I passed. Tried them all on and for the price point the rubber just completely takes away from the watch.

Yay, it i hands down the most comfortable bracelet I've ever worn. and on a PM piece it can go either way dressed up or down.

I've only tried on the everrose YM momentarily at an AD and felt very comfortable. I'd imagine comfort on par if not even more comfortable than my Apple watch given the bellow system on OF, can't imagine it causing any pain given correct fitment

I love my oysterflex Daytona. I think it's great to have a lighter, yet still rigid band. Feels sportier and I don't have to worry about scratching up a gold oyster bracelet with polished center links. Also, it fits me really well and is much more tailored to my wrist.

This, passed on the exact model the OP is talking about. If i’m going PM I want it on a bracelet and not the OF. Meteorite dial is the only OF Daytona I’d consider.

I too am wondering about this. I am “waitlisted” for a Yellow Gold Daytona … it seems like a lot of watch, to me, to be dressed down with a rubber bracelet … maybe sometimes, but not all the time.

What do you think about a PM Daytona on an Alligator strap ?

That is where I am leaning … Gold Daytona / Black Bezel / Black Alligator Strap … ???

Do the OF models still have an extension link in the clasp? I understand that their are different sizes of OF bands, do the watches ship to AD with different sizes?

Next time your AD offers a Newman Daytona OF, please refer them to me.

Had it for a while .. not for me. My gripe is that is a dark grey colour rather than black (maybe this is just the nature of rubber I don’t know) but it really bothers me. I’ve never seen anyone complain about this except from me.

I agree. If these PM pieces were to come in bracket option They would even be more popular

I had a RG Yacht on the OF, but not for long. Sold it to a dealer here for what I paid. Couldn’t warm up to it. Felt uncomfortable.

It's not uncomfortable and it doesn't hurt my wrist, but I prefer the metal bracelet and leather band.
I will probably put a metal bracelet on my Daytona WG Oysterflex.

I have a YM Everose and find it extremely comfortable. One important factor for me is this piece comes with a mini glidelock which I think is a must for OF. When/if the Daytona goes this way I will buy one.
I’m in the minority in that I won’t wear a full PM watch so not having a PM bracelet works for me.

It all comes down to personal preference. I’ve never owned an oyster flex, but I’ve tried them on. I don’t think they’d be for me as I don’t really like rubber straps.

I also wonder what they’ll look like 10 or 15 years from now if worn daily out in the sun. Will they hold up like a metal bracelet?

Wore my 116519 on leather for many years. Super comfortable. Sadly sold it, now I want to replace the watch and since I will likely never find a mint NOS watch like I had, I'll probably buy the new 116519 on OF. a Yay for me. But I don't knock the watch on leather either.

I have the OF 519 and love it. I wear it frequently and it could be a one watch for me but I get bored wearing the same watch so I like diversity. The WG OF is very under the radar but looks stunning especially in sunlight. I think every collection should include one.

I think it's awesome. Perfect piece for pool IMO. Stays put on the wrist when you're soaking wet vs a full PM piece the weight makes the piece slide down to the hand often.

Like anything else you get on the internet, you have to take what you get with a grain of salt. Or in this case, a big, giant boulder.

Did the owner bother having the correct strap sizes put on? Did he/she even bother with getting measured for the correct fit? It's an easy process when buying from an AD, but if you buy gray, not so much.

The right fit is crucial. The trick is to find the setting where the fins underneath don't dig into your skin, yet the watch doesn't slide all over your wrist. I believe this is one reason Rolex introduced the mini-glide lock clasp on these models, to assist in the process.

But really, you have to try it for yourself. I find mine to be very comfortable, but they do wear differently from a bracelet watch. It takes a minute to get used to.

It doesn’t beat or succumb to a bracelet it’s just different on many levels.

For sure.

I passed and shortly there after they offered me a Meteorite GMT they had in the safe for a long time. Completely different watches but the GMT blows away any Daytona in the catalog ( my opinion of course ).
