I like the OF. But the cost of a PM on OF is ridiculous. If they were an option for SS models then 100%.

I find some of the comments on long term wear and appearance (30 years+) strange as the replacement cost directly from Rolex is a fraction of the cost of a PM bracelet so can be replaced as and when needed with ease? To me it is one of the most comfortable bracelet options and flies under the radar better with no scratch risk so an easy win whilst retaining the more subtle PM on the watch and clasp. Micro adjustments and individual sizing on each strap side make a huge difference in getting the perfect fit who those who are interested in acquiring.

Totally different than the bracelet model, but my OF Daytona's are EASILY my favorite modern rolexes bar none...wearability is off the charts, its a little more subtle and I love the aesthetic, but to each their own!

It seems that people that actually own and wear OF PM watches always swear by them. Count me in as one since I cant imagine my collection without my WG oysterflex daytona. It has become my most worn piece by a wide margin since acquisition and goes from dress to sport like no other PM watch. Its the versatility that brought me to rolex in the first place and my 116519 fits the bill perfectly

Right on, I also have the WG on OF. Very sporty and unique.

Love the oysterflex Daytona head but wish it was on a standard bracelet. I love the ceramic and the sub dials. The oysterflex bracelet doesn’t nothing for me. I don’t like the way it fits my wrist. It bulges out and you have to wear it fairly tight. I like it on others but it’s not for me. I’ve owned one and that’s the only Rolex I never loved.

You do realize that the PM watches with full bracelet are like 10k more right? If anything this gives a midpoint for a PM watch between SS and full PM, plus its comfortable AF

+1

Comments on rubber looking new decades from now are very odd. It's the same thing as leather straps - all easily replaceable.

I think Oysterflex is classed as a bracelet by Rolex because of the titanium core, in any case I meant you can just buy a new Oysterflex if and when the need is arises.

Yes! But only as OEM on PM as originally fitted. I could not buy smarty endlinks and wear on SS model.

I am “waitlisted” for an 116518 … the day I am called, I will order an Alligator strap for it.

I will wear it with both, and see which one stays on the watch.

Just checked the Rolex site and the difference between bracelet and OF is exactly 10K or 1/3 more than the OF models.... so its odd when people say for 30k to have a watch on a rubber strap is a ripoff. Or that for not much more you get a bracelet.... FYI AP, Patek, etc have watches on rubber that are stainless steel none the less for more money

I think it’s a cool, casual look. But I don’t really get the comments that you can dress it up or down. I really don’t see how you can dress it up.

You'll love the YG version.

That's the way to do it. So much versatility.

Which do you enjoy more between the 2? Have you noticed that there are many times the 518 in this config looks like the 519 in the right light? Almost feels like 2 watches at times.

I too do not understand the thought that for just "a wee bit more" you can get a full bracelet, 10k is a lot for what is essentially a couple of inches of gold plus a bezel.

To me, it is not the cost but the look of the watch. I think the 11651x looks amazing, and nearly a perfect watch for me. Would be glad to have the 116505 if the opportunity arises! Can't really go wrong either way.

There are similar cheap alternatives out there ,they are great to try out the wing back concept. I bought a Strapsco one . It was reasonably comfortable. Available in several colors so a cheap fun alternative. The gap is just a reflection from the end link the straps are well made.

It weirdly works on the Daytona. In fact, the only time I like the Daytona is on oysterflex.

Yey from me, love it ,great fit, easy adjustment. Perfect in my eyes
Never Thought I could really wear full gold so when I saw Rose gold Skydweller on oysterflex that was my watch. Glide lock clasp is beautiful.

I don’t have a watch with the Oysterflex bracelet on it, so I can’t speak from experience, but I do go back and forth with this.

Lately I’ve been in the mode where I think rubber straps are sort of silly on any watch that costs more than a couple thousand $. For example, Omega Seamaster Diver 300m. I’d definitely prefer the stainless steel bracelet. That’s for sure.

However, I suppose I wouldn’t mind having an Aquanaut or a 40mm Everose Gold YM.

Was lucky enough to go to a Rolex event recently and got talking to a TOP Rolex guy and he kept correcting me when I referred to it as “rubber” and insisted it’s some other kind of material that will never perish ,tear/rip and will outlast any other strap/ bracelet. Maybe just sales talk ( how can they know!)
However it is super comfy and keeps head of watch still, yes maybe expensive but to me worth it, love it.
Im pretty sure most you knowledgeable guys know that it does have metal (titanium I think) inside of it so it’s well engineered, time will tell I guess.

Absolutely yay. I personally find my 116519 super comfortable and I like that it dresses down the watch a little.

I have a PM Daytona on Oysterflex. I had to replace one section of the band. Once I had the correct size it was very comfortable. I selected the PM/Oysterflex model because that is the only way you can have a PM with a Ceramic bezel. I wanted the PM and Bezel. The downside is that you can't swap in a solid gold bracelet, because the endlinks on the Oysterflex model are built into the case of the watch. The only other option for a band/bracelet is to get a leather band or maybe some other fabric.

Your options are SS with Ceramic Bezel, PM/Oysterflex with Ceramic Bezel or All PM without Ceramic Bezel. This seems to be a Rolex Strategy.

I agree ceramic bezel is a must for me unless its a DD40. The Platona even has a ceramic bezel, Rolex must be holding off on releasing them on the gold versions for a reason.

Is there any possible way to get an OF if your watch came with a bracelet? Or is my only option aftermarket?
