I'm 46 and own around 20 Rolex plus a few other watches and have no kids, I've already bought a Rolex for my brother and sister who both have 3 kids.
I Also have a Godson, but I've been thinking recently that I'll give them away while I'm still alive, I'd like to see them all enjoying them before I fall off my perch

Started doing it this year. I turned 87 and this year and decided I wanted to see the kids enjoy them while I can. Gave my son my 14060M sub and my daughter my 118238 YG
day date on a Rolex alligator strap. The looks on their faces were priceless. I may do it again next year.

My son is 14 and has started showing interest in watches ever since I gave him my moonswatch a few month ago. But even before that, he was aware of my Rolexes and would always joke about wearing them to school to "flex!
I told him when he gets into college, he can pick between the 16600 or 16570.
My daughter, who is 9, has already claimed my DJ as hers. Its a TT, with champagne dial and diamond markers. She will get it when she goes to college as well.

Watches make great family heirlooms for obvious reasons. I recently was gifted this 16753 circa 1983 from a elderly family member who was a former Navy fighter pilot and American Airlines commercial pilot. I will get it serviced, put it on a NATO strap and give it to one of my sons who can decide if he wants to restore the bracelet.
I plan on either giving or leaving my collection to my children, time will tell.

This . I have the same idea. Hopefully my boys will express some interest over the years and I'll happily give them watches from my collection, starting with the lower value watches first. Assuming they attend college, my wife and I will give them the Rolex professional models we bought (and I wore) for them, at their graduations. First one to get married gets to keep their great, great, great grandpa's 1885 H. Moser pocket watch.

My son wears a BB58. He'd be into it.
The trick is to try and get the daughter, who only wears an apple watch, into it too.

I've thought about this a lot for some reason.

I think starting with my son graduating high school, maybe something modern, moderately priced. And then other watches for accomplishments along the way.

I have them in my will for my sisters, nieces and nephew. Oldest surviving gets 1st pick and so on. I have 2 sisters, 1 nephew and 2 nieces. At this point I have enough for 3 each but not sure that will be the case when I pass. I am going to have them each pick their favorite and try to hold onto those watches for them to enjoy.

My kids are not yet old enough to make that call. Even though they are young they each have a favorite that hopefully things go well enough to give them their choice before I croak out.

I have two son's. Only one expresses a passion for watches.(ones 41 and the other 37) I have already gifted him several. Especially if he shows a interest in a piece that I no longer wear.
I also have a nephew that has a huge passion for watches and I have gifted him quite a few. He just loves them and sends me pictures often while he is in college.

I have also gifted watches to my mom, dad and niece. My niece loves her 1st watch and it's mechanical which she is fascinated with.

My personal collection, (that continues to grow somehow) I will leave in a will as to which pieces get distributed to whom. They are higher end watches that I enjoy often. I have all boxes, paperwork and any service records for each of them. To include the original bill of sale to me. They can enjoy photos over the years of them being worn as we take "group shots" from time to time. I have cursed them with horological enthusiasm.

My two sons (28 and 35) are not really into watches. So, when I'm gone, I really don't care who gets what as long as I enjoyed then while I'm still above ground.

Hopefully I will have the time to sell them before for cash as I don’t have anybody in the family remotely interested in them.

I planned on giving my son my 116500LN black dial when he started college but after seeing a huge scratch on his apple watch with a no big deal attitude, decided to wait until college graduation.

Gave my son (age 30) one of my watches when he finished his Masters and got engaged. He received my
16622 platinum dial yachtmaster (2011 model). I didn't want to wait till I kicked the bucket.

My son has enjoyed wearing a watch ever since he was in primary school (timex). For his 21st he received his first big boy watch (Speedmaster) and now 5 years on I have already past on some of my watches to him.

He is free to wear most of what I own whenever he wants.

At the end of the day, they are his, one way or another.
My joy is that he enjoys wearing watches and attending watch GTG with me.

My Daughter gets all my stuff when i die, watches included
If she shows some interest in my collection or watches in general, I may give her the watch i was wearing when she was born on her wedding day (or some other momentous occasion)
Otherwise, she gets them all when i kick the bucket and she can do what she wants with them

I’ll give my kids a watch each when they graduate high school. I won’t pressure them into tertiary if that’s not what they want. They are already into watches and have Casios.

My son is too young now that not even know what watch is
maybe after 20 years after he really graduate, see if he is interest in it
God know if people will still wear watch 20 years later or at that time, only smart watch will still alive

if no interest at that time, then I will only pass one PP to him just as a gift of memory
the rest will sell to someone who really know the watch, to allow someone who really enjoy and will wear it

Gave both my sons already some years ago.

My youngest my 16570 black dial EXII with an engraving and my BB58 black face.
.
The eldest one got my first 116900 which was his dream watch plus some other compensation.

Since i'm the end-of-line for my human lineage... guess i should put within my will to have TRF get a couple of Rolex timepieces to give away. Am already giving away quite a few things to a Percussion specialty University, etc.

I have no progeny, so it will be part of my retirement fund. No I didn't buy for investment, but its nice to know they have value when I do decide to sell.
