Icon3 ManKind Project

I've read some testimonials (mostly favorable, some making some pretty nutty claims) about the ManKind Project (https://mkpusa.org/). It's a 48hr men's "support group retreat."

Has anyone ever heard of stuff like this? Attended one? Knows someone who went? It has piqued my interest & doesn't seem culty, but more new-age "getting in touch with yourself."

are their staff psychologists / psychiatrists or random "life coaches"? I'm skeptical of any business that charges money to facilitate sharing of potentially traumatic experiences. Unless a good MD/PhD involved it could be more harm than good

Looks like material for yet another Adam Sandler movie.

Mods, feel free to delete this garbage thread. It is not what I was searching for. I instead tripped down an internet rabbit hole.

Im even more confused, You want to do outdoorsy man stuff but are now turned away because of an ECO Feminist review on a blog? Seriously, I understand your want to get away, meet new people, acquire real skills ect. This can be don at any 3-10 day nature or mountain or survival adventure outfitters all across Colorado, WYO, Idaho, Alaska. The best thing is to do a 3-10 day at a real working ranch as a lowly ranch hand. Both of are filled with well off professionals seeking exactly what you are.

Did you read those posts? Having to use a "talking stick" and being called by a number? I was looking for camping/outdoors groups & stumbled on what seems to be culty.

That sounds more fun than "indoctrination" & "initiation!" I'd rather fish & shoot at trees than paint my face & cry about my parents

Ned Beatty had more fun on his rafting trip than a person would have on that retreat.

If only... Maybe I'll start with a 6-pack and some beach camping in San Diego before I go out with those nutjobs.
