I wasn't going to say anything, but since it's out now, I might as well. The photo in the OP is 100% real. How do I know this? I'm the owner of Rolex, Jeff Rolex (my last name is just a coincidence; I used to work at Panerai and my loyalty was often questioned). We here at the Rolex family (the company, not my personal family) were working on the ultimate expression of "Rolexness" for some time now. We toyed with making a new model--the GalaxyDweller--we toyed with making it into a special Yachtmaster II model. But we finally decided on going with an update to our most iconic design, the Submariner. You can see the influence from other watches in the Rolex lineup. The snow white dial of the Daytona. The Milgauss seconds hand. The Cellini Moonphase moonphase. The pointer date which we took from an Omega model. The time, which all our watches show.
I'll let you guys in on the specs, but you have to promise not to tell anyone until it debuts at Basel. 52mm case 26mm lugs 28mm thick 1,905m water resistance (commemorating Rolex's founding) Ultramega Jubilee bracelet Superlative ChronoCeramic bezel (it's the same as the bezel we used before, but this name has more pizazz) New Movement, the Rolex 9999, co-developed with Diesel watches (each watch comes with a free pair of Diesel jeans and a NATO made out of Diesel denim). Timekeeping specs are as Superlative and Chronometery as before The case and bracelet are made of a material we call Super CeramiPlatiGold Steel. The construction is as follows. Each case and bracelet starts with a core of yellow gold. The yellow gold is then DLC coated with black ceramic, then coated again platinum, then there is a layer of steel, which is then covered in white gold. The result is a solid gold bracelet with about 10,000 microns of coating. The watch, with all the links in place on the bracelet, weighs exactly 4,535.92 grams. Retail price is $64,200, but waiting lists are currently 312 years long.

I love these speculative pix! Thanks for pulling it together. Can you imagine the thousands of ideas they go through at Rolex? There’s only one way to create these stunningly beautiful watches.

I heard the biggest thing at this show will be the announcement of a collaboration between Casio and Rolex, called Oyster-Shock
