Out of ten, what score would you give the 15407ST?

There appears to be a very strong fanbase for the 15407ST, though given the highly limited and controlled supply we do not see many pieces amongst members. Given that, I am interested to see just how highly collectors revere this relatively unique piece.

8/10 for me. That said, I'm no expert in watches. I know a good amount about Rolex. I'm still getting my feet wet with AP.

This watch is absolutely stunning. 10/10 on the cool factor. High price tag and knowing it wouldn't get much wrist time, I can't go past 8/10

that's a good point. I actually prefer the dimensions and lack of gold balance bridge of the 15305.

Your wrist is a touch bigger. 15400 chassis does not work as well on me.

It's 30% more accurate than the previous model, but sacrifices 25% power reserve. I would give the watch 6/10 overall.

But being dateless it’s simple to wind and set so the PR isn’t a major issue.

Well that’s what I’ve convinced myself

As a biased former owner of the 15305st, I prefer the dial on the 39mm version as it doesn't have the gold bridge, which I find takes away from the overall beauty of the movement.

For my 7" wrist, I also prefer the fit of the 39mm case. I would love to own the 15305st again but with the exorbitant prices they are fetching right now, it's highly unlikely.

So 9.5 for the 15305st and 8.0 for the 15407st.

No option for 11 out of 10? I think AP knock this one out the park. Price is an issue for me, so maybe it's 10/10 lol

A picture of it would help. Sorry, do not know too many watches by model number, even the ones I own.

Guess that’s were the the previous version comes in as a good alternative at 39mm, for me I find the 39mm a little small so prefer the 41mm.

Also they do offer the double balance wheel openworked (15407st) in a 37mm version (15466bc/15467or) but currently this is only in frosted WG or RG.

If it was 39mm it would be a 10/10 for me

This x10000. The 15305st was an amazing piece

I wish they would have kept the 15400, 15407 etc in the 39mm size. It wears larger than that anyways and was a great size for practically all wrists. One thing that started to bug me on the 41mm RO after continuously looking ,is how the 'automatic' on the bottom seems to sit too high. Granted you don't have this problem on the Skeleton, but yeah. Also the non-gold bridge as others have stated, looks way cleaner to me.

It's a very cool watch and I love it!!! It's art. Simply beautiful. My only issue is the price tag. $41K for a SS watch is nuts. Doesn't matter how cool or prestigious it is. I didn't pay a whole lot more for my BNIB Platona, which is much cooler (just my opinion).

Horses for courses I guess!

I’d rather pay more for the work going into the movement then for a stock movement in a PM case which I think is nuts, but each to their own.

BTW congrats on the Daytona

I get it. The 15407 is a unique masterpiece of engineering and art. It's not just a watch. The Platona is a beautiful watch, but not a masterpiece like the 15407. I may plunk the money down one day, but I'm not paying over MSRP for anything. After all, this is just a hobby.

It's not just a SS watch. It's an AP openworks. What one is paying for is the craftsmanship and the many hours spent in making this watch, a lot by hand. Only a handwork of watchmakers in AP has the necessary skills and experience to do it. Part of the reason why this watch is so rare.

Agree with you. But I have to say a 15407 in platinum or full ceramic will be ultra cool.
