Montblanc Rollerball Pens

I want to get a Montblanc Rollerball pen, I have been looking on eBay, I do not want the twist style, I want one with a cap. I also like a medium to thicker point.

Any thoughts on this style?

MB rollerballs are quite fine.

If you wish a thicker line go towards a Legrand within the Montblanc collection.

You will however have to unscrew the cap versus pulling it off on the smaller Classical models.

I love the rollerballs. These 4 are all very nice. From left to right is M collection, starwalker extreme(my favorite), Pix, Bohem blue. They all have a thicker feel than the original meisterstuck ones.

I don't believe you could even find a MB rollerball with the twist mechanism even if you wanted one.

MB does not make a twist RB. The MB twist pens are ballpoints. The one you show per the link is a ballpoint. I prefer the RB over the BP.

They do make one. The 1912 heritage collection capless rollerball.

That is a pop off cap, but looks good.

Be aware that the refills run out quickly, but can be refilled with FP ink if you pull off the blue / black cap on the refill that comes with the pin. You can use a syringe to do the refills. Works well. You can get them on Ebay by doing a search on "Ink Syringe". A couple of bucks and a bottle of FP ink and you are in business.

Outside of that if you choose to buy refills they will rip your wallet out of your pocket.

Run, don't walk from Ebay. Go to a pen store, spend the extra money and buy with confidence. I love the LeGrand series. Watch out for fakes!
Happy Hunting.

Oh...if you get one, dont loan it out!!

I disagree. I have purchased scores of Montblanc pens from Ebay sellers with no issues.

Just be careful and when you find a pen on Ebay just post a link and we can help you with authenticity.

Avoid anything that comes from China.

It's not a rollerball, but my local Costco has Montblanc Starwalker ballpoint pens for $169. Just bought one a couple of weeks ago - my first one and I love it!

I have to agree with Richard, the caveat being you have to do your research to make sure you can tell what is the real thing.

I have gotten a few that are great and authentic. I did the research!

I love the way roller balls write, but alas I have to go with ballpoints. I tend to lose things, so the twist is vital. Also, I’m a lefty and the rollerball ink doesn’t dry fast enough for me. If you buy from eBay make sure it is a reputable vendor.

I made a post about this, as I love ballpoint action, but also like the way Rollerballs write. Apparently some guys use gel refills in their ballpoints and it mimics this feel. Have you heard of this?

I have not, but I haven’t found a gel pen that works for me as a lefty. My hand tends to drag across the page and smudge the ink if it doesn’t dry instantly. It does sound like a great idea.

I never even thought of that, being a righty. That seriously would be quite the nuisance

Again... move forward with a pen that you want on Ebay and we can help you with authenticity.

Ebay can be a great source for pens. Just be aware and let us help you with the pen that you want if you think you may need advice.

Go!

Go!
My Montblanc was purchased on eBay, without a stamp in the warranty book (seller claimed it was a corporate gift). Sent to Montblanc in Germany, verified all was authentic and proper, and they even verified for me that yes, that is true, that for large corporate purchases it is completely normal to not have a stamped book. Some people like to claim that’s a sign of authenticity and it’s blatantly not true.
