Some 4-digit DJs

I happened to have three silver-dial 160X examples on hand and thought it would be fun to post a photo showing the nuanced differences.

Bottom left: lumed baton hands 1603 (2.4M)
Top center: no-lume 1601 (2.5M)
Bottom right: wide-boy sigma dial 1603 (3.3M)

That is definitely a classic style, and for good reason.

I hadn’t really noticed wide-boy sigma-dials before finding that one, but now that I’m paying more attention, I do see them.

Super nice, Dan! I wonder if back in the day they were all called "silver" dials. Two of them look more like "champagne" dials, or perhaps that's just patina that's developed over time. Three beautiful classic DJs!

I’m not sure, Aaron. They may just have aged differently and maybe it’s also a trick of the lighting since I was holding them at different angles. In person the differences are pretty subtle.

Excellent trio. Here's my 1603 (1.5M) with doorstop dial, 1966 caseback, and the "Straight J" in DateJust. Sold on a USAF base in Spain in 1968. Came to me as pretty much a full set (B&P and various bits) about ten years ago.

Nice to see these DJs.
Here’s mine. 1603 (1.8m). Def a silver dial on this one. My first Rolex and still own it.
As has been said, a timeless classic. Batons look a bit different to others shown.

Love a 36mm DJ - quintessential Rolex -Ask a civilian to draw a Rolex, and that's what they'll draw. Think it being the shape of Wimbledon clock since 60s part of reason. WB Crimped my fave of 3 Dan. I predict in 20 years these will be Ł20k, now that the big watch craze over, and tasteful less-is-more is making a comeback* !
* Every hi-life, lifestyle and fashion magazine like Cosmo,GQ, FHM, Harper's, NYT, Vogue etc etc have done pieces on the neo-naffness of chunkfest watches. One here with Jacek

It took me a while to come around, but in recent years, I do find myself reaching for a DJ more frequently. They are just so easy and comfortable to wear on my smallish wrist. I also find the steel engine-turned bezel to be really versatile, and works well with either oyster or jubilee.

1st couple of digits of the serial number.
