Is this a fake Submariner?

If anyone can verify this is a fake Submariner for me or not, I would appreciate it. I believe it is, but if someone could give reasons as to why it is I would appreciate it. A friend owns it and won’t understand that it’s fake. I’m trying to get him to understand.

Something is off about the bezel. Doesn't look right.

Wouldn't it be better if he doesn't know? He might have paid good money for it and ignorance is bliss?

From what I understand, it's trying to imposter a 116613LN, correct? If that is the case, the case shape is somewhat accurate but the shape of the crown guards is wrong. If this is also the case, then I am sure the dial with the Rolex Crown between Swiss Made is incorrect for this watch. The date wheel and lume pip on the bezel also look incorrect.

Are these all the indicators, or am I missing anything else?

He's been saying it was a gift so he didn't pay anything for it. The fakes seem to always be gifts...lol.

Dial is mimicking a new 41mm with crown between swiss made in what looks like the older 40mm case too.

Just going by the photo the cyclops is mis-placed, the date wheel is weird, the crown guards are not from Rolex imo (I've never seen such crown guards on any Submariner) and, as posted above, the bezel and lume pip don't look right! I also think it's a fake.

Why would you be trying to get your friend to understand?

He either fully knows but is hoping to convince you, or he was conned out of thousands of dollars. Either way, it's not your dog.

There are many clues here. Compare it to a similar image of an authentic watch and you will see.

Firstly, I guarantee if you wind it it will not feel real at all. Second, as somebody else stated, it’s got the crown between Swiss and made, which means it should be a 41. But it has the crown guards of a 40 super case. Also it looks like garbage

When you set the time, do the hands go clockwise, or counterclockwise?

It’s a fake watch, but why do you care?
Why do you care if he thinks it’s real or not?
He says it it was a gift, he didn’t pay any money for it, so why does it matter or what’s the difference what he believes or not?

Along with what has been pointed out already, Rolex went to white lettering on the dial with the 12 series TT subs (with the crown at the bottom of the dial).

It's a poor representation of the real thing. If you want to convince your friend (he must be a real thicky becuse that is a really crap watch, it's not even a good fake), the real thing weighs 174g with all links. You can't fake the weight of a gold watch with plated steel..

I mainly care because he’s actively trying to convince people it’s real & flexing it at any opportunity he can, which is cringe. I give up though, dude saw the replies and still insists it’s real. You can’t fix stubborn. Oh well!

Not sure why it matters if it is fake or not. It was gifted to him. If he likes it, that is all that matters then.

Fake. Crown guards are off and bottom of numbers are not arched along the bezel.

The crown guards are abysmal. Oh, but we can't talk about reasons, so, it's fake, just fake.

I agree, it’s cringe worthy, but that’s it.
Who cares if he wants to convince people? And who cares if they think it’s real or not?
You shouldn’t care what he does with his fake watch.

Absolutely counterfeit. Look at the real thing here on on the Rolex website and see the differences with your own eyes.
