Rolex GMT-Master II 126710BLNR Unboxing & Introduction

[Rolex GMT-Master II 126710BLNR Unboxing & Introduction]
Date of Purchase: June 20, 2022
Place of Purchase: 王永昌鐘錶(Taipei,Taiwan)
Retail Price(at the time of purchase): TWD$348,000
Purchased Price: TWD$648,000

GMT-Master II is one of the three most popular modern sports collections that is offered by Rolex to the public, others being the Cosmograph Daytona and the Submariner collection. The GMT-Master II line is a tool watch that is meant for business people on the travel and pilots in mind. The wristwatch was originally developed in collaboration with Pan American Airways for their pilots and navigators in the 1950’s, and offers to track up to 3 time zones on the watch. This particular reference was introduced in Baselworld in 2019. The GMT-Master II (model no. 126710BLNR) comes in case size of 40mm and is made from Oystersteel, which is Rolex’s term for 904L stainless steel. The bezel is made of Cerachrom that is made from hardened ceramic and will resist scratch and fade against time. The interesting thing about the bezel is that it comes in two colors, black for indication for night time and blue for indication for day time. Because the watch is black and blue, this particular reference is sometimes known as the “Batman” due to its popularity in the watch community. The bezel indicates 24-hours markers which is used by pilots to show up to three time zones using hours, minutes, and the GMT hand. The watch also features with date complication that comes with 2.5 times magnification from the cyclops window. The watch offers protection for its winding crown which minimizes damage from daily use and also offers Triplock system for waterproofness system up to 100 meters/330 feet. Indicators and markers are painted with Chromalight luminescent material so that the user can read the time at night. The movement is in-house manufactured perpetual, mechanical, self-winding 3285 caliber, and offers approximately 70 hours in power reserve. The movement also offers hacking seconds function which stops the seconds hand when the crown is pulled for precise-time setting. The perpetual rotor works in bi-directional self-winding fashion, and the oscillator is made from blue Parachrom hairspring to combat magnetism. The bracelet is the sports Oyster 3-pieces links and offers Easylink 5mm comfort extension should the wearer’s wrist expands or shrinks due to change of the season. Lastly, the BLNR designation of the model number is a French term for Bleu Noir which means blue and black that is the colour of the wristwatch.
