Seamaster Diver 300m checks a lot of boxes for me
I was just thinking how many boxes the Diver 300m checks for me.
1. I wanted a blue dial watch. 2. I wanted another diver. 3. I wanted something more modern than my other watches (which are classic by comparison) 4. I wanted something sort of quirky, and not traditional in any sense of the way 5. I wanted something that’s sort of a beater watch, but not really 6. I wanted something that I could wear to the office, out to dinner with my wife, or to the beach 7. I always want something with a cool story behind it, and it’s a James Bond watch like my Submariner 8. Specs and price. You get an awful lot of watch for the money. That’s for sure. It’s just such a perfect watch for me, and although it’s not my favorite, it’s noteworthy that I’m writing a post like this for it, and not my other watches. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

The only people who knock the SMP Diver 300 are those who have never tried one or simply choose to dislike it because an Omega and somehow inferior because "insert a reason".
I fully agree with you and even though mine is an older SMP, it is still my most worn watch. Here are my reasons, 1) It keeps great time 2) Its very comfortable to wear on my wrist 3) The clasp is much smaller and more comfortable than the submariner. The easy adjust system is vastly superior IMHO, I can make an adjustment without taking off my watch. 4) I can comfortably travel with it to most parts of the world without the fear of getting mugged. Keep rocking yours. Also you have a near perfect 4 watch collection IMHO. I myself only prefer to keep Omega and Rolex. While I have dabbled with other brands, they don't resonate with me as much and I end up getting rid of them (except Seiko becasue they are mostly so cheap). |

It is a classic diver, I think it has passed the test of time already.
Nice Omega! |

The SeaMaster is a great watch very under rated and under appreciated. Also it is a steal in the current environment with prices that make little sense on other brands.

Nice collection and beautiful seamaster. How does it wear compared to your Sub? Size wise, I know it’s a 42 compared to a 40 Sub, but the lugs on the seamaster curves on the wrist more. Is it noticeably bigger to wear on the wrist than the Sub? Thanks.

I love mine! It's my vacation and pool watch and occasionally worn all week when I'm busy since it's so comfortable I forget about it. I really like it on the uncle seiko president.

Sub is 40mm with a lug-to-lug of 48mm. Seamaster is 42mm with lug-to-lug of 50mm. If you put the Seamaster on a leather strap, then the Seamaster wears a lot lighter. |

Unless Rolex ever makes a blue ss sub, the smp will be the king of the blue diver market.

Checks a lot of boxes for me as well. My daily for years was a 43.5mm PO 8900 Blue dial. Recently acquired a Seamaster 300M Chrono (Blue/Grey), and its now my new daily and really have yet to reach for the PO since I got it.
It wasn't love at first sight, nor at the unboxing; but after a few days I started to appreciate it more and more. It has a modern aesthetic yet still has design cues from the lines history, and has just the right amount of detail to keep it visually interesting in a sea of mono watches. I love the laser etched wave lines and the bezel enamel paint. About the only thing I would change would be the bracelet, its too wide without the taper and the links do not have a rounded edge and just dig into my wrist. Needless to say, bracelet came off day 2 and I've been NATO and Rubber since. Add that to the excellent movement, its gained minimal seconds over 2+ weeks of constant daily wear. |

Excellent. I wish they made a 40mm version and I'd have one in an instant (in blue just like yours).
