It was a no lose move by Omega.

I thought the Moonswatch was supposed to be a "fun" watch.

Swatch is making it painful.

Yet another reason to move pass this watch.

Oh well I did not want one that bad. Certainly not paying the up charge for one of these and looks like the supply that comes in goes to those reselling and not really wearing. I have stumbled into 4 Swatch shops since released and all the same story. They are gone in minutes even though they come in a totally random days. Seems like "someone" knows the delivery days and just so happen to be waiting in line before then open.

Was hoping to just get a couple online.

I wanted to buy a few of these as gifts, waiting patiently for the online sales to start, but honestly the arrogance of this article pretty much got me past any desire to chase this watch. No online ordering, no waiting lists at stores or option to prepay for one, and no ability for customers to contact a store by phone to check for stock? Are you kidding me? He expects someone who wants one to go to the mall, pay to park, trek through it for 20 minutes to get to the Swatch store, and be told there are no watches and to keep trying every few days. Zero regard for those who have health issues that still have to manage Covid risks as well. Truly unbelievable in my opinion.

There is a little arrogance here I agree. There is also a problem with the same people somehow knowing which day to go the store, and picking up one watch each time they have a batch in.

Anyway it is what it is. If he thinks queuing and getting nothing most days is an enjoyable experience then let him think that.

I love my MoonSwatch. It’s fun, doesn’t take itself too seriously in my opinion and I love the Mars colourway.

I find myself grabbing this at the moment over my seven other watches. It’s easy to wear, light as a feather and I love the strap.

It took me a fair few attempts in London to get this. I’m so pleased with it though. Swatch deciding it won’t be released online though is a shame. It’s a shame for the people that live outside on London in the UK. There’s only one Swatch store “stocking” these in Scotland as well. So if you live anywhere other than Edinburgh in Scotland, you’ve not got much hope of getting one. It’s a shame.

Price wise, I wouldn’t buy a single penny over the retail for this. It’s a Swatch that looks like a Speedmaster. For a similar price you can get a metal Casioak.

Cheers.

I asked my daughter to go into the boutique in Edinburgh for me a few times but never any in stock. Told her not to bother again.

See there still double/ triple over list on the resale sites

Don’t see me getting one now unless became more readily available/ not paying over list for something that overpriced for what it is

Would've bought one when they launched and they hype was in full swing
Less so now

As someone who isn't the biggest Speedmaster fan, it didn't take me long to realize that the price of these plastic, quartz watches would get me a pretty nice automatic Seiko

My wife still wants the Uranus....so when the time will come probably I will get one for me also Mars or Neptune.

Fun watches, dont take them too seriously, I might wear my 1861 on left and moonswacth on right hand

I’m on the hunt for Neptune. My mate wants it bad but he can never get into town (London). So I ll try Covent Garden and Oxford Street whenever I can.

I heard from the stores that Neptune is quite “rare” to have in stock. That figures why they are stil £800 on the reselling sites. Madness to spend that amount of money on a MoonSwatch. Get a Seiko king turtle and a metal Casioak instead.

I'm not paying a dime over retail, if i find it good, if not good.
No rush for me

Seems like if swatch started off with good intentions of releasing a “fun” watch , they’ve ruined it by making it this hard to get. I would have ordered one for fun if it was easy to do , but no way I’d put so much effort into physically going to a swatch store that may or may not have it , nor would I pay over retail for this. They’ve killed the spirit of this watch IMO.

It seems like they could compromise and let you order whichever model you wanted online, pay for it, and then let your nearest local Swatch store contact you when it comes in so you can pick it up there.

What a mistake. Swatch may have saved Omega and other major Swiss watchmakers by generating a base of customers for Swatch's quartz models. They probably could have expanded that market had the Internet existed back then.

We had no choice but to go to the stores to buy them.

This is not the case now, and Omega's reaction is based purely on a 100 year old business model of selling watches that is antiquated, especially for a plastic watch with disposable quartz movement.

The Moonswatch is not a handmade, precision, watch. It's the epitome of advanced manufacturing techniques on a very very large scale. There is no store experience so great that a watch like this shouldn't be sold online. That's absurd.

Something tells me Omega/Swatch is out of touch with what the Moonswatch really is, and that's not a good thing.

It’s pretty clear from their approach that the purpose of the MoonSwatch is brand awareness first, sales second. Keeping it sold out like this is ingenious for maintaining buzz and building even more hype - not to mention educating aspirational young watch enthusiasts about OMEGA and the Speedmaster. That will reflect in OMEGA sales over the coming years when they become gainfully employed and want to celebrate a major milestone.

Frustrating for those who want one, but I tip my hat to their marketing team

Yeah but on the way, you've made a lot of watch fans cross Swatch and maybe even Omega out of their list just because of the awful experience. Now they are doing a watch tour?! That's going to end horribly, long lines and no watch to buy but plenty to look at.

To call what essentially looks like a happy meal a Swiss made precision watch is laughable.

How is this a successful campaign if everyone who goes in to a Swatch shop leaves disappointed?
