Agree. Bracelets better in every way. It feels better, and tapers better. Speedmaster is great but i don’t think it’s even close.

Have to go with the venerable Speedmaster.

Panda for me out of those 2. However, Omega makes a couple of chrono's that I like better.

Not even a question, the Daytona. And any other Rolex for that matter, especially when compared to the likes of Omega.

The Rolex design is home run for decades both as a whole and individual elements, something that other brands still haven't figured it out.

I thought it was too large too. Then I tried it on. Not at all, low profile and wears like a 40mm.

Good question- it’s almost impossible to escape mob hype. That being said, the Speedy wins. The dial and bezel is all black aside from the writing and indices.

A good experiment is to ask a non watch person. Preferably someone who hasn’t heard much Rolex. An older kid (12yo) for example. You could even preface the question with saying Rolex and Omega are very fancy - which is better looking.

Daytona, hands down, without a doubt. I fell in love with the Daytona the first time I saw one and heard what it was. I have had several through the years, including the 116500LN white dial ceramic shown here and still have the 116519LN WG gray dial.

Hummm, I wonder, since a lot of the hype has dwindled from the 116500LN white dial ceramic Daytona, might the hype now be shifting to the Speedie???
I persoally have never liked any Speedie, regardless of color or design or anything. I just can't warm up to it and find it very boring in my eyes. We each have our own preferences, that's for sure. Nothing against Omega, as I have a SeaMaster 100 which I really like a lot. It's just the Speedie is not for me.

Both are great! The Daytona is my special occasion watch. It’s what I wear on my Bday, when I want to wear my favorite piece. The Speedmaster is a very elegant uniquely shaped, legible and functional piece. If I had to choose one I’d keep the Daytona. But for easy legibility and under the radar, the Speedmaster is great. I was wearing my Daytona as my daily but not recently with theft concerns lately.

For me, the legibility of the Daytona just beats that of the Speedmaster.

Aesthetically, I have to go with the speedy...though my opinion may be biased because I have the speedy FOIS and never owned the Daytona.
For some reason, I'm not a fan of the hour markers on the Daytona...don't know exactly why. It just looks a tad awkward.

To me the design Daytona is just epic. The modern (1989+) Daytona is one of the best watch designs ever. The look is perfect. I do have issues with it like legibility and the lack of a date. That is why it didn’t/doesn’t get a ton of wrist time for me and why I traded my Daytona C away for a Day Date. That being said between the two iconic Chrinos of the speedy and the Daytona I dont think it’s close. Daytona wins the design contest hands down .

The Omega. Without a doubt. In fact, my only potential hesitation between the two would be the Daytona's superior water resistance.

That said, I'd prefer a Sub over a SM300 (1957 aside), and an Explorer over a Railmaster, a DJ over an AT. On the flip side, would probably have to pick a PO over a DSSD...

I think this comes down to: I prefer different makers of comparably high-quality products based on their specific use. I'd rather an Accord than a Camry, but would take a 4Runner over a Pilot any day.

Not in my experience. Also, the dial is cluttered, without contrast, and murky. I don't like the case or lugs shape. I'm not fond of the bracelet either. Although it's relatively cheep in comparison it has not exhibited good value growth. Of course it available from Omega online without a wait which attests to it's desirability.

I love that people are so passionate about both. It’s this kind of passion that drives this hobby and far supersedes any momentary concerns about the cost of admission, availability or resale value.

If you are referring to the OP's photos, that is the Hesalite crystal model.

It could not possibly be more contrasty than black and white. Not sure what you mean. And, ah yes, it must not be a desirable watch because it's available to buy online from the manufacturer without a wait (what a novel idea). That's the definition of a non-desirable watch? Or are you saying that because it's available online from Omega, it is desirable?.

The dial is cluttered and no contrast? I’d say the exact opposite, that’s especially so if you’re comparing it to the vast majority of chronographs out there, including the Daytona. I’d say your opinion is in the extreme minority. Just take a look at the number of posts of Rolex fans that prefer the Sppedmaster’s legibility in THIS thread. I’d say your brand bias is showing. Big time.

Lots of Speedmaster choices here. Well I'm plus one on that. I think it's less busy and simple.
