New Jubilee clasp 16710 pinching skin. Ouch!

I've owned my 16710 for about 17 years. It's probably my favorite watch or easily in the top 2 or 3. Haven't worn it much the last year or two but thought it is time starting with July 4th!

I live in NYC and usually out of habit I put my watch in my pocket when I'm on the subway but was a non issue today and I think we can all start to get paranoid from reading about thefts.

If I didn't live here my whole life it might be different, especially if I were a tourist.

Anyway! I've always wanted a Coke bezel and a Jubilee bracelet.

This year I finally got the correct bracelet and it's really great..Nice to mix it up with the rest of the collection which is all Oyster other than a few Rubber B's.

One thing I don't like about the new bracelet is not that the clasp is not good but it can really clamp down on the surrounding skin and or hairs...It's extremely stiff since it's new and for sure you don't want this thing to open up too easily but wonder if anyone else has this and any suggestions.

I sourced three authentic bezels this year..For no good reason I bought another Pepsi bezel, which I will sell and a Coke and Black bezel.

I have watched videos on how to change the Bezels and I don't think that will be a problem but after all these years wanted the Coke and Black..now I'm not even sure I want to change em out.

Felt great to have this old friend back on the wrist with the new bracelet. So light!

Hope everyone has a great 4th!

Great looking reference

Do you have a picture of the clasp?

Here you go!

It's super stiff and tight..have to apply a lot of pressure to close it and have to pull hard at it to open.

I almost want to spray it with WD40.

My thought is that with this "old style stamped clasp” you may need to bend it ever so slightly to adjust the fitment.

I recently put a jubilee on my 16710, clasp is tight like you describe. I have not been pinched in any way when closing the clasp??

I can't believe how tight it is and requires a fair amount of pressure to close. I am able to prevent getting bitten by the clasp if I put my finger between it and my wrist but sometimes I don't and last night it bit so hard, it could have drawn blood

To take the watch off also require a lot of pressure to undo the clasp.

I will try bending it slightly and might put some lubrication on it as well.

I love the look and feel of the Jubilee bracelet but I love the silky clasp on my 214270 much more to say the least.

. . .
I always put a finger behind when I snap the clasp closed, no matter what watch I put on.

To loosen things slightly don't bend up your clasp; straighten out the curve in the deployant blade closest to the clasp. This will move the locking teeth away from where they catch.

Thank you for weighing in!

That worked perfectly!

Now when I go to Barcelona they won't have to struggle undoing the clasp!

It was so tight when closed it was almost a safety feature!

THanks again!
