Congratulations on your acquisition Robert.

It's a shame that no one reported Tommy Sourface earlier since he'd have been shown the door for that display.

Next time don't be shy. That sort of unbecoming conduct is frowned upon here.

I rarely "congratulate" people on buying a watch (cuz', I mean, how rare IS a Rolex GMT-IIC? And people are patting each other on the back for "acquiring" one?), but in this case, I think it's warranted. Congrats!
Thanks guys, I am through for a while in collecting as this one set me back a dollar or 2.

The 5218-202/A was made in 1993.

What I love about this watch is the non-matching dial which are few and far between. And as well the paperwork that links this watch directly with this being one of so few that was actually delivered to it's namesake, the Italian Navy's Marina Militare.

All 1993 PAM are non-matching, dial was made with trasparent print on dial

Not true, do your homework, officially Firenze says only 25 to 35 dials had the wrong type of varnish put on them.

And this particular 202/A is even rarer as it is one of 20 that were officially delivered and owned by the Italian Navy's Marina Miliare unit, now that, Tommy, is real history. True Richemont did not have anthing to do with this watch but due to recently falling profits (3 months ago) at Richemont, I don't doubt they will copy this one as well but that would not chaff me, at least I know I own the original.
Great response!
Wear the watch in good health! It's a true beauty!

Speaking with some italian friends, and reporting some Mario Paci words, 201/A no-matching made were about 50pieces... 202/A nobody know exact number (btw less than 201/A)...

Interesting post

Interesting post

I beleive it, Markus Tchopps a major Panerai dealer sadi the same to me, he fel that there were more than the lesser number quoted. I searched for the article where I read it but could not find that article but I did find this one that says basically the same thing:

Quote:
Now , let's speak about the dial, as to understand why the name Logo was given...

The dial is made of brass, with a varnish that caused a nice accident...

Nice because the varnish " attacked " the tritium a bit too fast, giving it a magnificent orange brownish color, which didn't match with the lightly greenish hands, hence the name " Non Matching ".

When Panerai realized that, they changed the varnish for the other Logos to produce, so, even if it's difficult to say, I guess that some 30 Non Matching Pre V logos were made, according to Gurus like Y.O, and D.G, or M.B.
Here is the full aritcle: http://quicklook.watchprosite.com/sh...ost/ti-434676/

I personally would beleive the words of Mario Paci and Markus Tschopps over an article on the web any day.

Hi Watchman 1957, although I usually post on the Rolex forum, this is my first on the Panerai forum. Just want to congratulate you on a great purchase - it's a really handsome watch and you should be proud to have it in your collection!
