That's reallyreally amazing.

And beyond cool.

And that's coming from a newbie Paneristi.

I rarely "congratulate" people on buying a watch (cuz', I mean, how rare IS a Rolex GMT-IIC? And people are patting each other on the back for "acquiring" one?), but in this case, I think it's warranted. Congrats!

Thanks guys, I am through for a while in collecting as this one set me back a dollar or 2.

The 5218-202/A was made in 1993.

What I love about this watch is the non-matching dial which are few and far between. And as well the paperwork that links this watch directly with this being one of so few that was actually delivered to it's namesake, the Italian Navy's Marina Militare.

Looks like an old overhyped, overpriced watch to me. I prefer my PAM 00 over that watch any day of the week. Hope you did not spend more than $5K for that sample. Looks like you are now the cat's meow spending more than 30 times the original asking price of $2K.
Now you can keep it in a safe and wait for appreciation. I on the other hand will wear my 00 on a daily business. Glad you got your grail though...especially since Richemont had nothing to do with it! Good luck on its appreciation!

Thank you Tommy for all of your kind words. They only made 140 of the 5218-202/A, total. Of the very rare non-matching dials there is supposedly only 30 to 40 non matching dials (no one knows for sure) split up between the 201/A and the 202/A watches. And this particular 202/A is even rarer as it is one of 20 that were officially delivered and owned by the Italian Navy's Marina Miliare unit, now that, Tommy, is real history. True Richemont did not have anthing to do with this watch but due to recently falling profits (3 months ago) at Richemont, I don't doubt they will copy this one as well but that would not chaff me, at least I know I own the original.

Actually, I'd really like to thank Tommy for his post. Honestly.

Without his post, I wouldn't have been privy to this information!

ALL. THE. MORE. AMAZING. PURCHASE.(!)
