First Omega advice please.....

Hi all.

Considering diversifying a little from Rolex: I have the opportunity to purchase a new Omega from a UK AD at a great discount (family in the business) and would be interested to know what people advise as a keeper/daily wearer.

I am drawn to either a Speedy or Seamaster and would value peoples advice on what best to spend the money on.

I'm in the habit of wearing six digit Subs or Exp2 so something similar, but maybe a bit more dressy. I prefer a steel bracelet. I do care about retained values to a degree so something that is going to keep its interest over a few years, and provide some investment potential.

Any advice appreciated

A limited edition Speedmaster of some sort will likely hold its value well. The Planet Ocean watches are but a bit bulky but I really like them. That’s what I have. I would stay away from any gold watches. They drop in value a lot. Good luck with your decision and enjoy your purchase

I would look at a ceramic speedmaster. Dark Side of the Moon or my favorite, the Grey Side of the moon. Great movement and cool watches. If you are getting a great deal one of these would be my choice.

Thanks guys. It seems the Speedy is winning! Do they all have the ceramic bezel?

Most Speedmasters do not have ceramic bezels. The ones that do will be automatic movement, 44mm with date at the 6 o'clock position. I too, really like the Gray Side of the Moon editions.

There are a couple of 42mm manual winds with ceramic bezels if that’s what takes your fancy.. The most recent being the Apollo 17 45th watch, and before that the snoopy. The ck2998 also does although that is 39mm.

Either way, I don’t think you can go too far wrong with a speedy assuming you get the right price. Great watches, and a style and size for everyone.

Thanks for all the views....... Actually I'm quite tqken with this model:

324.30.38.50.06.001

Good movement, date complication, co-axial movement (automatic) and water resistant 100M. My only concern is the size. 38MM

I think its is a relatively recent model. Does anybody have a view on the size/spec? Unable to post a pic or link yet. Sorry
