crown, tube, it's obsessive !
Hi
Some years ago I changed the crown and tube on my Tudor 7934 but crown 24-600 does not fit properly . Without stem the crown screws just fine but with the stem at a certain point metal bumps into metal because the stem cannot move deep enough into the crown and I see much tube threads like other people on the forum . Actually the crown gasket is not pressed and the watch is not closed . Questions : Can the stem move deeper into the new crown 24-604 ? like it did into old crowns . Do I have to change the tube too ? (have three pieces of 24-6020 and they fit well on the case) Regards |

The threads in the crown are not as deep as the old one and have a gap between the case and crown. You can fix this by carefully filing the stem down to the right lenght.
The stem is probably hardened so you'll need a hard file, a grind stone works too. |

A Dremel tool with a sanding disc would work very well for this.

Many thanks to both .
But the problem is elsewhere . On crown 24-600 there is not enough free space inside for the stem to move inward .This crown is not made like the old style ones . I bet that Rolex made a new model to solve that problem . I'll visit the AD in Rouen and beg them on my old knees to sell me a crown 24-604 instead of sending the watch to Rolex who do not repair watches that old . (1860) Hope the new model will fit . |
