Invicta watch "do you like or hate them"

I can't stand these watches. Does anyone else feel the same? They all generally copy another brand and usually look very bad.

Maybe you should post this in the other brands forum.

They either make:
1. hubcap sized watches
2. copies of other brands

When I first started collecting I got sucked into the idea they produced great watches for little money.

Get a Seiko if you don't want to spend money. It may not be as flashy but at least you won't be the butt of jokes.

I have several. No, they will never be Rolex but they are fun, solid watches built for little money. Enjoy them!

Had a guy try to argue with me that invicta is made by Rolex! He was wearing an invicta sub copy.

Many watches have looked similar over the decades the first Rolex sub looked remarkable similar to the Blancpain fifty fathoms. Now that was on the market a full 9 months before the first Rolex sub was .As long as brands like Invicta look similar and not portray they are nothing more than a Invicta, myself have no problem with them they offer quite good value for your money.

Some people can't afford to pay thousands for watches, that's why there is a market for homages
But I wouldn't choose Invicta if I was going to get a homage! There's plenty of other sweet homage manufacturers out there.
I think someone is selling a gilt MKII submariner on the FS section- nice

Man, I swear... every week another Invicta thread pops up...

I just like my 8926OB. That's it, that's all. We all understand that they rip off brands, and make massive watches.

I've had this 9937 for a while now. With a Swiss movement and sapphire crystal, its a pretty good watch.

Other than the HUGE Invicta symbol, light weight and obvious lack of Rolex quality my coin Bezel invicta pro diver it's not terrible.

I don't really have a comment on Invicta, but regarding the Blancpain Fifty Fathoms, I frequently see comments that Rolex may have copied Blancpain, which leaves me scratching my head.

Blancpain 'created' the FF in 1953 (their website confirms this). Although Rolex didn't release the Sub until early 1954, I read in a recent WatchTime that it was being indpendantly tested during most of 1953. Timing wise this would make it very hard for Rolex to copy Blancpain (maybe it was the other way around, or maybe there was no copying at all).

Furthermore, other than a black timing bezel, I don't find these watches to look that similar. Certainly nothing close to the 'homages' of today.

Besides, there are some very fine brands that have made sport watches that are obviously based on the Sub look. Invicta is what it is, and they're pretty up front about what they are selling.

I'll flip on the Invicta channel on cable TV from time to time when there is nothing on. Love watching the huckster's pump 'em up. Unfortunately still haven't seen one that I want.

I cannot think of a single positive thing to say about Invicta. Then again, I'm not the target audience for that brand.

Unless you consider the fact that they take chinese movements and market them as Swiss.

I have the sub homage Invicta 8926OB. If you're looking for a watch that looks like a sub it's not a bad watch for under $100 bucks. Not everybody can drop $6K on a sub. IMO the Steinhart ocean 1 is a great sub homage. For $550 you get a genuine swiss ETA movement & the looks of a submariner at a fraction of the cost. I'm seriously thinking about buying one..

Not a fan myself, but my wife has several. She likes BIG men's watches and $100 or less a throw I certainly don't mind. They have very flimsy bracelets and the gold coloring wears off pretty fast, but she comes home at least once a week, she's in sales, with a story on how she was complemented on her Rolex. Usually by a man wearing a Rolex. Go figure.
