They're a reputable grey dealer with a real brick and mortar store. Never bought from them, but I hear they have a good rep. Their prices aren't particularly great though.

I have heard one horror story about them, a friend ordered something online and it took a few weeks to get it to him. The reason was that they had to go find the watch after he ordered it.

I have heard their products are good though, but like white lightning said, they are priced on the high side.

I don't think so Roger. My watchmaker used to buy some parts from them (they are sort of local). I think he told me the guy buys watches from ADs who are trying to get rid of them. I'm sure I don't have all the info, but that's what I've heard.

I don't think IWC allows ADs to sell over the net anyway, at least with advertised prices under list.

Ironically, they are located almost around the corner from me but I have never been in to their store. I have heard they are reputable, although, as Bruce said, their prices are not the lowest around.

Isn't Charles Furman, Mark Furman's smarter, richer brother?

There is a name that had his 15 minutes of fame and then thankfully he went away.

Just how an AD price would compare to what Furman lists?

Each watch on Furman's web site has 2 prices:
E.g. 116233 Retail Price - $7,325 , Our Price - $5,860

Would an AD sell at the "Retail Price"?

Retail Price is the one laid down by Rolex. An AD would be able to give discounts depending on the model...ranging from 5, 10, 15 and even 20% on DJs and DDs. In the above case, Furman is obviously offering 20% off on that particular model.

BTW, welcome to TRF. Enjoy your stay here.

Cheers - JJ

I was told by an AD in Orlando, FL that his Rolex rep stated Rolex USA was getting ready to take some sort of legal action agaist them. I would buy with extreme care.

Well I know for a fact that my dad bought his watch from alanfurman (the actual store) rolex, and he seems to be quite content with it... I'm planning on buying a rolex from alan furman as well. I am new to the forum so i dont know what AD or IWC stands for but please pm me because i have questions about his store too.

Avoid Alan Furman at all costs!!!

The first and best reason to avoid Alan Furman and any of their competitors is that they are not an authorized dealer for most (possibly any) brands they sell. Although their prices seem attractive, if you talk to an authorized dealer usually they will at least partially, if not fully, match a price that you will find online from a place like Alan Furman.

Also Alan Furman does not honor their warranty as claimed. One of my friends bought a watch from them, I think it was an Omega, and the band fell apart on him after 6 months. When asking them to replace it they assured him that he broke it himself and that he would have to pay something absurd like $600 to get it fixed. On top of this they played games with him trying to suggest that they were an authorized dealer of Omega even though we all know they're not.

So unless you like the feeling you get every time you take your car in for a repair, I would avoid buying a watch from any unauthorized dealer, especially Alan Furman. I suggest going to a small, local authorized dealer, but if that's not your cup of tea then Tourneau will always sell you the watch you want.

My dealings with Alan Furman have been mostly positive. They have always been very courteous to me. I've purchased a watch from them once and returned it within the set time frame and have had no trouble. I've purchased two brand new watches from them - one Rolex and one Omega. No problems at all with either. I returned a pre-owned Rolex once because it had a few scratches on the bezel and clasp. Other than that, no problems at all. I've never witnessed them claiming to be an AD for Omega or any other brand in which they are not. Just my experiences.

It is an oldie.

But Alan Furman is still there and selling watches like hot cakes, so that does say something positive for them..

And aside from the one post by the one guy (his only post to the forum) I have not heard any verifiable negatives about their business.

Agreed, Larry. Alan Furman has always had a good reputation, and seems to be continuing that record. I would do business with them, if the opportunity presented itself!

Hello All, I've been a TRF voyeur since late 2006 and used this site to plan my first Rolex purchase... Thanks for the enlightenment Guys!

Just prior to that, I took a risk and purchased a TAG Monaco from Jomashop. The watch arrived perfectly as advertised.

When my travel needs demanded the 4th hand of the GMT Master II, I went thru Alan Furman based on their price of US$4200 shipped, no tax. I've been so impressed with the transaction, I've sent my dad through there for mom's new DJ. I even sent my dad's 35 yr old DJ to them for a complete overhaul. As what I'd expect from RUSA, it came back in like-new condition!

So, to anyone who hasn't used Alan Furman... I've happily used them and would not hesitate to use them again.

Now fastforward to today: I called them for their price of the ss GMTIIc to replace my 16710, and their quote was well over MSRP. And they recommended that I go thru an AD.

Cheers!
