Some here think that Tudor doesn't even belong in the Rolex forum.

There are those here who own both Rolex and Tudor and who understand the differences in the two brands and respect each.

I fall into the latter camp.

I indict you! It was some of your posts that got me hooked on the amazing Tudor North Flag. I even went all-in and got the leather strap (which I’m currently wearing) in addition to the metal bracelet. It’s just a stunning piece. Who cares what trolls say?

And a belated thank you for your posts and pictures.

Congratulations!

I'm humbled that I might had some small part in having introduced such a fine watch to another.

Tudor is the watch to have when you can't find or justify a proper Rolex..

I own 2 and if I could find a SUB. I would not have the BBR
And if I could justify the cost of a TTDD
I would not have a style...

It's a good alternative..to call it the poor man's Rolex is wrong as they are still expensive to the average working man

Would "wanna-be Rolex" make you feel better? Or, "overpriced second place"?

As long as it's good for you, what people think about it shouldn't bother you, congrats on your Tudor!

I own the BBGMT and I am fully aware of what the brand was originally designed to be. That being said I feel they have moved past the original budget branded Rolex.

If it's a money or status thing I feel we can throw that out since anyone that can afford a $4K Tudor can easily achieve a $10K Rolex.

I have a Polar 216570 that while still makes me happy does make me question where the extra $4500 lies besides in the logo. Which I will fully admit at the time that is what I was buying anyway.

I had the AD swearing blind that the BB models have a ceramic bezel when the website says it’s anodized aluminium. Still niece

I have owned and still do own many Rolex watches...everything from vintage GMT to WG DD and love them all. That said, I am about to but not 1 but 2 Tudor Pelagos because

1) I think they are cool looking watches, and
2) I don't fell like paying a hefty premium to buy another SS Rolex above retail.

Say what you want about me, but please stop calling Tudor the poor man's Rolex. Its like saying the guy banging down $500k/year is middle class. Ridiculous. Too many people have their priorities in the wrong place with comments like that. I guess they are the same people driving their $100k cars to the apartment that they rent. I buy watches for my enjoyment and I happen to enjoy Tudor timepieces. I don't really care what other people's opinons are of my watches.

Sorry for the rant. :-)
I love the Tudors at their price range. Many collectors regard Tudors as a poor man's Rolex. But I love the brand.

I must be the only one who does NOT want a BB58 GMT. The reason I purchased a Tudor GMT over a Rolex GMT was the larger case diameter and thickness as well as a toned down flash factor. Used to own a 16710 and it wore too small on me and felt so darned light. Wanted something more "substantial" on my wrist. The Tudor ticked all the right boxes and gives of that perfect tool watch charm.

I am with you on this one. While I don't care either way if they release one or not as I have the Tudor GMT I wanted and would still choose over a 58 version.
To me this goes back with Tudor being noticed as it's own entity over Rolex.

I actually turned down the BLNR after I received my Tudor because of the size difference. I am also not a big guy so don't see how so many people can complain about it being to large to wear...but to each their own.

IMO Tudor is a legit Swiss brand. I wouldn't let some insecure snob(s) or internet trolls get under my skin. Buy what you want and wear what you want.

Not only that...
You can actually buy one at the AD without the wait!

Visited my Nearby AD and many Tudors were awaiting new owners but the only Rolex Professional models were TT YM’s and YM II’s.

That’s a beauty - saw it today at the AD. Reminded me of a Smurf (sort of).

But if Rolex made one in SS, we’d be waiting a long time to buy it like Hulks.

Come to think of it, a Tudor would be no less robust, accurate or trustworthy. So not sure I’d care whether it’s a Tudor rose or a Rolex coronet on the crown.

I agree. There's a natural progression in this hobby and getting over the "Rolex is the best.......must collect all Rolex" is a right of passage.

That's a reference to the Zenith DNA of the early Daytonas' movements.

Should have gone with Valjoux Boy then. A Valjoux 72 (slightly modified by Rolex) was the legendary manual wind chrono movement that Rolex utilized for 25 years. They must have really liked it. That’s the DNA of early Daytona’s.
The Zenith was used for 12 years after the Valjoux.
