Can we ban posts about price speculation like we do for fakes?

I haven't been on this forum for that long but I get fed up about the repeat questions about which is the better investment, which will increase in value more, where I can find a 'hot' item etc.

I can accept the questions about how much is my vintage Rolex worth but most modern classics, you can easily find the market price on chrono24.

With the availability questions, I'm surprised there hasn't been a sticky on it.

Anyone else agree with my views?

I don’t like them as much as the next, but I’m fine just scrolling past them. No need to put more responsibility on the mods.

You want youtube to ban all videos along those lines too ? that would take life away from the forum don´t you think Rolex loves all this ?

Banning topics that do now real harm is not a good idea
It can very easily “Kill” a forum.
Banning is a “Dangerous” path to follow in any open forum.
Banning people should be a very last resort and should only be done with careful thought.
I speak from previous experience (as some of you may know).
And before any of you ask, No. I have not been banned from anywhere nor have I had threads I started or posts I made stopped for any reason.
Banning can all to easily be the beginning of the end.

Maybe a sub forum for all speculation "what is it worth?" type threads? It would be nice to group then all together somewhere...

Not a fan of banning, yet a new section for price / speculation would be step forward imho.

I’m opposed to more censorship; like others here I can simply not read those posts. On occasion, these post actually result in good, healthy discussions. This is a diverse place; let’s keep it that way!

I totally agree, I'm tired reading "investors" posts. I don't mind scrolling but they should be obligated to at least add some prefix to the topic. Same should be for availability posts, there are no SS Rolexes available in display cases in the whole world, your 1000th post with report from Austin, Paris, Hongkong, Sydney is not valuable input at all.

Yup, I just want to hear if it is safe for a Sub to go into the baby pool, etc. Those were the good old days!

a speculation forum as others have said would be ideal

a flat out ban would be ridiculous

I think that is a very good suggestion.

The problem with skipping threads is that the topic title doesn't always indicate what the contents of the thread is about.

No banning, but the writer should disclose whether he owns the particular reference--just like when someone owns stock. Usually potential buyers want the stock to go down while owners want the opposite.

In some of my other hobbies the forums have "Dollars and Sense" sections to separate the true hobby from the money talk. Just a thought...

These same type of threads have occurred since this forum began, just do a search.

However, it might be a good idea to make a new section so people can talk freely about it.

Exactly! There is a plethora of really meaningful items at these watch enthusiast websites. Why waste your time and effort responding to what you don't like.
