Icon17 Navitimer Cosmonaute: Celebration of a Legend

I had the pleasure and honor of attending Breitling's recent event,

"Navitimer Cosmonaute: Celebration of a Legend"

fittingly held on 24th May, 2022 - 60 years after Scott Carpenter orbited the Earth in the Aurora 7

It was an amazing event, with some extraordinary guest speakers and some superb vintage references on hand, namely thanks to our one & only "WatchFred"

Congrats to @Breitling for both a successful event and their stunning 2022 Limited Edition Cosmonaute

I have to say, in my opinion, Brietling has really had the most exciting releases out of the major brands in the last several years. Many folks have issues with "heritage" releases, but the reality is wristwatches are not really needed for most of us these days and the entire idea of wristwatches built on heritage. I think Breitling understands this well.

Agreed I don't understand the division of "Schneider-era" and today's Breitling fans as I only see Kern's efforts as a nod to Breitling's rich history and important contributions, particularly in pilot's tool-watches and chronographs in general.

It really was impressive and to be honest, my first such event. There were "reports" from almost all the well-know watch Blogs and News Sites - quite an amazing mix between them and of course the guest speakers

I had to turn down the Cosmonaute yesterday because my watch budget already took a big hit some weeks back...
... but boy, oh boy, was it worth it...

Great photos. For me this model looks much much better than Omega Speedmaster. I can’t wait to see one in AD. The movement is very nicely done for what you get for the money. Good job Breitling.

My pleasure I fully agree with you - their history, particularly with chronographs, is nothing short of astounding It's a pity that not many of us are really aware of it

Thx! We had about one day (if even that much) to see one in a Boutique - I'd be surprised if many even made it to an AD... but in terms of quality, movement and the coolness factor, I would say the "standard" 2022 Navitimers are well worth a look
