Lol. When I put on my Speedy or my Daytonas, I notice zero difference in how they wear but think your appraisal of "too small and dainty" is hilarious, if not a little strange.

So, I use my watches as part of my job and can tell you there is not enough hash marks on the daytona sundial to be read with precision. Its more of a show or "estimate" and that won't do. I was using my daytona to time a task and i could not tell precisely (somewhere perhaps 18/19 minutes elapsed) and had to repeat the task. The Speedy never let me down in that regard.

The Speedy is the real deal and has been used in space thousands of hours and the Daytona broke no new ground and it has no real legacy. I mean race car drivers never really used them to time laps....otherwise they would crash very quickly.

Now, looks wise, they both look great, but the speedy is like having a "vintage" new watch and the Daytona does indeed look very modern so it really depends on taste. Personally I find the white dial version too blingy for my taste and passed mine onto my wife and kept the speedy. I was also increasingly uncomfortable with the massive hype with the daytona as well and felt that 13k was too much for a show pony, my wife liked it though.

They all feel just fine when I wear them and since I also wear 44mm watches like Panerai and DSSD, 'the dainty for a man’s wrist' comment is just funny.

I’d have to vote for the Daytona aesthetically from the two you have which are both great watches.
I would have a hard time choosing between the Daytona and this one for sure though.

I like the dial and handset of the Speedmaster better -- basically perfect.
I like the form factor of the Daytona better -- getting all that quality in that compact package is the greatest virtue of the modern Daytona IMO.

I do wish the Speedmaster were 2mm smaller, 40mm with the crown guards with the appropriate proportion shift... Would be ideal. But I have no real issue with the 42mm version on my 6.5" wrist, particularly the 3861 with shorter lug to lug and slimmer case. Nearly a perfect watch.

The aesthetics are very different.

The utilitarian look of the Speedy speak to me of a more tool watch vibe, kinda Bauhuas in it's execution. The Daytona has more flash. It's style doesn't seem to be intended to make the watch FUNCTION better as much as LOOK better.

I have to go with the Speedy.

The Daytona is much prettier but I prefer the more low key Speedmaster!

What’s interesting is that the Speedy bezel diameter is only 39.6mm, which is only 1mm more than the modern Daytona. The Speedy just has a lot more dial, so it looks bigger.

Have a white Daytona-C, have never been drawn to the Speedmaster for some reason so you can guess my answer.

That said tastes change, and I don’t wear the Daytona all that much. Maybe a Speedy is in my future at some point.

They are both great watches, though from a horological pedigree perspective I’d give the nod to Omega on this one.

The Daytona is….the Daytona though. You’re either a fan or you’re not. I think the 4130 movement is one of the best chrono movements ever made, and the aesthetics and symmetry of the dial are beautiful.

I do wish it came with a fully brushed bracelet and the tops of the lugs were brushed too, but I understand it to be one of their flagship models and modern Rolex designs like to be shiny.

Interesting responses

Function over hype. Sums up what is happening perfectly

I prefer the Daytona, but both are a little too busy for my taste.

Of the two, the Daytona has more aesthetic appeal, although I don't like either of them. You should chose the one you prefer for whatever reason you prefer it. Other peoples' opinions shouldn't enter into your process.

Most people answer with what they think is better watch, although OP asked which one looks better. Lol

Daytona is much prettier than the speedmaster.
It’s so pretty, that it’s almost useless as a chronograph

I love both of these and it’s very hard to single out which one I’d prefer to have. I think if I had to say which one looked better, it would be the Daytona by a smidge

Not even a close contest for me. The Speedmaster—more legible AND waaaaay more unique looking than the Daytona. To me, the Daytona, like many other chronographs from
other brands, look the same to me. QUOTE=rolexperfect;12250076]Hope everyone had a great week so far.

I love both these Chronographs, and really started to love the moon watch a lot more than I ever did — finally bought one a few weeks ago. It’s been really growing on me.

Which one do you think aesthetically looks best?

Happy Friday everyone

A moon watch needs to have an acrylic crystal. The milky halo sapphire is atrocious. So if it were the proper Speedy reference, then it would be a coin toss. But between the two you have pictured, Daytona definitely looks better.

I've never looked at these side-by-side, and I'm really surprised that I'd prefer the Daytona.

But also gotta say that flat link bracelet on the 321 is killer.

Have the speedy, but must admit that I really like the dial contrast when it comes to the Daytona
