Tudor Snowflake opinions

Does this look like a good one, all original?
It is the blue version, but looks more black to me.

Looks OK - not sure I like the insert (looks enhanced) and bezel is not sharp.

Are you looking for a Blue Flake? Or just curious?

I'm casually looking, looks like I need to read up on these some more.
This one did catch my eye...a blue would be a nice change of pace.

I would go for it! Prices seem to have come down and this looks like a stunning example.

I’m considering a snowflake currently as well. It seems really difficult to spot the difference between good aftermarket replacement parts and service parts… I’ve been offered a REALLY REALLY good deal but I have the same issue as you. What’s original, etc…

I’ll be watching this thread for anything that could help me too lol. I’ll share if I learn anything on the way as well! Good luck out there!!!

Surely that's a black dial. The blue ones are as blue as blue can be.

The blue 9411s are super blue. The 7021s are a little bit tough to distinguish but they generally have lots of bubbles. Post lots of photos !

All of the "blue" 9411 and 7021 I have seen are a very dark blue, almost black. Maybe in natural light it is easier to see the blue?

Looks totally blue to me, not even a particularly dark blue. Maybe the OP's display settings are off.

Some of the Blues do look black in certain light.

Classic!

I have 4 blue flakes at this time. From, the second oldest by serial Blue 7016 I.68 SWISS only Snowflake I've seen (photo with crystal off - debating might sell), to my first flake 1979/80 (might be for sale, at shop getting serviced), to a the Green Beret 1978, to a 94010 MN that will be going for repair soon .

Love my blues. But I have 2 more I want to get and I can't justify SIX blue Snowflakes and 6 7922/24/28s.

Dial is clearly blue to me, is just the lighting, look at the insert, is blue on top but looks black at the bottom...

BTW, here's my snowflake in action...

What are your thoughts on this one?

Is that a service insert? The flat four seems odd for these.

“ A Rolex Tudor Prince Oysterdate Snowflake Submariner gentleman's bracelet watch with 'roulette' date, ref. 7021/0, no. 738075, c.1969 Bezel: VG, tow or three light scratches and two tiny silver spots to blue (probably paint spots from manufacture). “

The OP's linked 9411/0 blue snowflake was traded apparently by the seller (Paul's watch repair). The asking price was a very fair 9.2k USD, though the bracelet was banged up (deep scratches) and part of the case as well.

On their Instagram you can see a video of it in natural light which shows the lovely blue dial and the really popping patina to go with it.

Looks like there has been a sudden surge in interest/demand for the blue snowflake, no doubt influenced by the prominent presence of the modern (and very popular) BB58 blue that is inspired by it. It seems all the usual suspects here (me included) have been looking for one and based on nearly 6 months of trend seeking, my guess is that:

1) their prices have fallen slightly with the overall cooling of demand (but not by much)
2) a plethora of them have recently hit the market (see other similar threads here).

The debate on the dial colour is an interesting one. There seem to be some variations of the dial (very subtle) but largely depend on what kind of light the image was taken in.

Check out this (highly over priced at over USD 13k) specimen being sold currently by OliverandClark. It doesn't even look blue (but it is...)! I think the colour/fade of the insert really helps (or hurts) that perception.

Speaking of overpriced, this has been on offer since at least Dec 2021 for the absolutely ridiculous price of USD 17.8 by The Vintage Concept.

Their strategy (which now seems to have backfired with the recent softening of prices or at least price rise) is "Tomorrow's prices, today!".

I believe this was previously on eBay from a pawn shop in the bay area. Hands are relumed.

The original seller commented on Paul’s Watch Repair post on IG.

Note: the Mk2 insert is really nice but looks odd on a snowflake. I don’t think this is “correct”. Just an observation I thought I would share.

It looks great but Long 5MK2 ended in 68, and you would find it on a 7016 Black Rose SPCG. Blue SWISS only SPCG have MK3 blue, and any later black flake has a MK3 Black

Buy it if you like it and the price is right.
