Breguet Marine - Loved it so much I bought two

Just over 2 months posted about by new Marine: https://www.rolexforums.com/showthread.php?t=817564

Mentioned in that thread I loved it so much I should maybe consider one of the other dial options but probably should let the honeymoon fade. Well yada yada yada I now have the silver dial brother for my black dial. The honeymoon never faded!

Such an amazing watch and even more amazing value for what you get. Maybe I'll have the blue dial come January :D

I owned the yellow gold version for quite a while. The only thing I didn’t like about it was it doesn’t hack. Other than that it was quite perfect in my opinion. Breguet it’s such an overlooked brand. It’s too bad because it has one of the richest histories in horology. I love both your choices. Congrats.

Wow. Let me know if you get bored of one. I love the guilloche patterns on these.

Congratulations!

Breguet was never on my radar until I spied a silver dialed Marine (the reference you just got) in a case at my AD. I couldn’t get it out of my head, and went back and bought the black dial (the silver had since been sold). Just a phenomenal piece, and my introduction to the Breguet brand. I’m thinking about getting my second Breguet now - I think this brand is way undervalued, and those references you have some of the best in the bunch.

Well done! Enjoy!

Thanks!

The non-hacking isn't ideal that would have bugged me way more several years ago than today where it's close to a non issue - my OCD is improving it seems

The guilloche is incredible! Anyone who hasn't seen in person needs to imo

Thank you! It really is an incredible introduction to the brand and as far as brands in general and their intro level pieces - does anything touch this for the price? I don't think so personally - you're getting other brands best showing and it's their base model or close.

I had a similar set of events. Let my AD know to keep his eye out for one on rubber and he texts me 2 minutes later has the silver dial on bracelet. I came in to look at it and was blown away but really wasn't a fan of the bracelet. The reason I like this AD is he right away was like go grab it online I won't be offended I know you like it on rubber. So I went home and bought the black dial.

I'm curious which I'll like more over coming months they're two super different looks. I think the silver is more my personal style but that black is just so nice too.

Both of those are lovely. How thick are the cases?

Always appreciated the marine.

Hadn’t seen the black dial before, it is a beauty!
how’s legibility on the wrist?
Pic looks like hands get lost on dial?

To me perfect thickness guessing around 11-12mm. I don't like too thin or too thick this one sits very nicely and the lugs hug the wrist it's super comfortable.

Way more legible than my pic makes it seem! The black dial has high polished silvered hands so at times they can look black depending on the light but the whole dial plays with the light like crazy so it's only ever black for a split second if you're looking down then you see the contrast.

Excellent I see the dial plays beautifully with the light.

Make that 3 Breguet Marine 5817s! Just need the blue and silver dial/yellow gold to complete the set :D

I do like this model.
Love the big date and the fact that it can be used as both a dress and a casual piece.

Yes for certain can be used any time for anything. I do love the big date as well you don't see it unless you want to see it which I think is great.
