My Daughters First Watch

One night during dinner recently I was wearing my new Black Bay 58 blue dial and my daughter commented that she really liked it and said “I would wear that”. Of coarse that was music to her watch enthusiast fathers ears. She tried it on and the 38mm was a bit too big on her wrist. She is 24 years old and recently started her career. I told her I would happily buy her a watch to celebrate her accomplishment through school and the start of the next chapter of her life….If she would wear it.
After spending a bunch of time looking at all different brands and types of watches she chose the Breitling Superocean II 36mm white dial. The AD had one prior to the latest model that has all the Arabic numbers as opposed to the newer one that has than only at 12, 6 and 9.
She is not a fan of the bracelet, so I ordered her the Breitling white rubber strap for it. This is our families first Breitling. Hopefully she will get as much enjoyment from it as I do all of the watches in my collection.
I can honestly say that purchasing a watch for her far outweighs the excitement that any of the watch purchases I have made for myself.
We haven’t picked it up yet as I waiting for the strap to come in for the AD to put on before we do

Thanks for looking

Awesome!
I told my girls I would buy them each a nice watch if they are interested when they are older. Currently 9 and 11.

My 11 year old daughter has been wearing my Damasco DA36 daily for almost a year.

That's awesome.

My enjoyment of this hobby tripled during during the course of our 30 minute dinner conversation that night. My wife also expressed an interest in getting a sports watch. She has worn a Movado for years and this past Christmas I got her an Omega Deville. She is now researching her next one. So far a blue dial OP36 is the front runner.
It looks like the Sub I was saving for will have to wait a bit.

It will posses sentimental value which is rare. My watches are purchased possessions, not a gift from my father.

Thanks, I do hope that it becomes a cherished possession to her.
When my Dad past away I thought to myself, I wish he had a watch that I could keep to remember him by. I wasn't into watches at the time. In fact that thought is what got me into watch collecting. A short while after I bought my first watch. Which now reminds me of him in a way.

That’s amazing! I have a 10 month old and I’m hoping he’s as interested in watches as I am when he matures, if so I can’t wait to take him out to buy him his first luxury watch (I’m certainly not wishing the time away already).

I hope your daughter enjoys wearing her Breitling!

Back in the day that was virtually unheard of. Boomers needed a watch, it was a tool. My Timex took a licking and keep on ticking.
