What is Hydropothecary doing today? It doesn't seem to be trading but I couldn't find any news.

Looking more and more like Diageo, the largest hard alcohol company in the world, is sniffing around Aphria for a possible stategic investment or acquisition. Aphria recently hired Jakob Ripshtein from Diageo to become their new Chief Commercial Officer, yet he is being shown as still also employed as CFO of Diageo North America on his LinkedIn page (screenshot attached).

It is also interesting that Aphria just signed an exclusive distribution deal in Canada with Diageo’s main North American distributor to use their alcohol salesforce to help distribute Aphria products in stores all across Canada. Seems meaningful to me as a former M&A Banker.

Personally, I may pick up more Aphria shares here while it is off with the rest of the sector today. An acquisition would come at a sizable premium to where the stock is trading today.

Wow, cool to see this thread here. I've been investing in this sector for about 3 years now, and it's because of Canopy profits that I was able to buy my first rolex which is what brings me here in the first place. Normally I only get to discuss this stuff on Reddit and StockTwits so it's nice to find another venue, since everyone I know in real life is sick of hearing me talking about weed stocks.

So yes, Canopy is hitting the NYSE and all existing stocks will switch to the ticker CGC. Very exciting time and I'm excited to see what's going to happen next!

Thank you, Mcorliss for your continued insight! I picked up more Aphria today while it’s down.

If anyone was watching Hydropothecary today, it had the strangest pop in the last 30 minutes of trading. Bounced up over 11% for the day, then retracted to about +7.5% in the last couple minutes of trading. I’ve never seen such a drastic jump. Doesn’t appear as though there are any major news or events. Any ideas?

I saw that too and was wondering what that was all about too. But I liked the jump! Wish the 11% would have held.

Can any of our seasoned vets here tell us whether they beileve that the projected June 7th Senate vote has already been factored into current evaluations for the big players like Canopy, Aphria and Aurora? If all goes well and legalization gets the green light on or before June 7th will this be a major positive catalyst or will we see something else? Thanks in advance.

Exciting times.

Hoping for a decent jump.

Interesting because they say it’s priced in. So if it passes, not likely a big jump. But if it doesn’t, it’s going to be ugly.

Sitting tight. Hoping for the best.

I believe for the most part the legalization is priced in, so don’t anticipate a big run-up prior to the vote. Which is a good thing, as there may not be a significant ’sell the news’ event after it passes. Institutional $ will start entering the sector to a greater extent, which will be a catalyst in itself. Some of the smaller co’s will fall into oblivion or get acquired. The big guys should start seeing a nice, sustained push upwards, assuming they’re ready when the rec sales start.
Exciting times, my friends.

i agree legalization is priced in but it could bring in some volume that could give us a 10-20% raise in the floor.

probably will be the fall as Ontario the retail outlook becomes clearer until things really start moving again.

Does anyone have suggestions for companies that have the biggest foot print in the US? I’d like to setup some long plays as I see deschuleding and eventually decriminalization of marijuana as an inevibilty here in the US. I’ve got a few thousand shares of MPX Bio and Liberty Health Sciences. I’m doing my DD on iAnthus but who else would my TRF cannabis family suggest I look into?

CV Sciences, CVSI... Up 400% since I posted them a few weeks back. They are large players in CBD oil, which is already being introduced across the country in strip shopping centers all over the place. Quite fascinating actually. Pair it with the opioid epidemic and there's a real case for this company to have a great future.

If you held you must be doing really well CVSI. I know you mentioned them back in mid May but I also want to remember you mentioning them months before that. Am I correct?

Yup. I did some DD after you mentioned it, felt warm and fuzzy, jumped in @ upper $0.70’s range... Sold half my position when it doubled, thought I was gonna buy back in on a dip - which never happened Now I feel like the ship to increase position has sailed... Until next day when it’s another +15-17%... Impressive indeed.

I had previously mentioned IIPR. Another great, dividend paying, long term play, IMO.

Biggest negatives are shares outstanding here and SUPPLY worries....

Not sure demand will be able to keep up with massive amounts of supply.

But then again who really cares until it pops/deflates... so buy the hype until its 100% legalized I suppose

Another nice bump today. I have 5+ holdings up 8% - 12% right now.

Hoping this momentum lasts a few days and doesn't get sold off on the news.

It’s been a lovely day.

I’m now down only 10% in total.

Is it strange to be happy about that?
