The 16613 gets my vote. I guess I'm just a bit bias because that's the one I have.

I prefer the old blue... it has a metallic quality that the ceramic doesn't...

saw both in the flesh today!

the old blue - darker, more subtle, elegant. but the size of the watch and the gold tone makes it look like jewelry

the new blue - flatter color, muted. but due to the maxi dial, this watch seems a bit more flampboyant

both have its strengths.

Prefer the 16613, but the lume on the Maxi dial is winning me over.

The pictures shown in this review really accentuate the size increase of the lugs. I agree with the writer in a sense that the design changes definitely transform the look of the original Submariner. Looking at those pictures, Rolex should have re-designed the bracelet/lug integration to create a little better "flow".

I will say though, the TT models do show the size difference more, whereas the SS models don't seem to look quite as enormous...could just be my eyes though...

Personally, I love both designs. I am one of the few that really enjoy the "new" blue...

EDIT: I apologize for bringing this thread back from the dead!!!

The new blue is more elegant and that the word engraving is more clear with ceramic bezel. Definitely 116613 is a lot better. Also the old blue of 16613 is unluck for Chinese culture.
