A question for Speedy owners.......

To Co-Axial or not to Co-axial?..... that is the question.... And if so, which one?

No Coaxial on your first one, after that you free to choose

Do you like a really thick watch? If so the co-axial version is just right for you. If not, go with the classic (one of Omega's few truly iconic designs).

I think co-axial is fine as long as you like it given the size and features. The simple design and layout of the professional series has always attracted me.

if you go with co-axial, go with 9300. otherwise, no co-axial

Co-axial=Thick Thick Thick

9300 is beautiful!

Speedy pro is my favorite but it has limitations, depends on your needs.

what are the limitations? I'm not challenging that there are some, I'm just curious what limitations are worth considering for someone who doesn't own one yet.

The limitations are all personal preferences, here is how i see them ...

Its water resistance is 50meters, not enough for diving & swimming is questionable.

It does not have a date, some need the date.

The hesalite crystal is an important part (my favorite) of the look of the watch, but is prone to scratching.

It is a manual wind movement, some prefer auto.

All that considered, i think the speedy pro is the quintessential chrono and all others are second, regardless of manufacturer.

I think when it comes down to it, there are a few deciding factors (many already mentioned). It will all come down to what you prefer.

9300: Automatic, sapphire crystal, sapphire caseback, date, bicompax, 44.25mm case, 16.5mm thick, $8700 MSRP (bracelet)

Original: Manual, hesalite crystal, solid caseback, no date, tri-compax, 42mm case, 14.3mm thick, $4500 MSRP (bracelet)

The biggest in my own personal opinion is the crown. It's too small, which makes winding difficult for me. Even if it screwed out, to get some distance from the case, it would be a big improvement. Besides that, i love mine.

The dial of the Speedy 9300 is sublime. If you can handle the size, I say go for it.

I owned the 9300 for awhile...loved the dial design but couldn't tolerate the heft/weight of the watch when worn on the bracelet.

I was wearing my new Speedy snorkeling off the beach in St. Thomas within 1 hour of purchasing it. No problems.

It's a beautiful watch for sure but the 3313 cal had problems in the past so I would not touch it but that is just me.

I went with the classic Speedy Pro. Love the old school hand wind and plastic crystal. It's really comfortable and durable. I have showered and done light swimming with it.

I use a Seamaster Pro 300M Chrono for modern automatic movement and high water resistance.

I've had zero problems with either one. Both are from around 2007 and have never been serviced yet.
