I say it's a mod. Otherwise everyone would know about that and it would come with a fourth card with detailed info.

I know the Signals Squadron attached to SAS did have an older style Seamaster with an enamelled back showing the winged dagger. I can believe that this is genuine. I also know that last year Special Forces Support Group (1 Para) had two watches made for them a Breitling Seawolf III and some or other Tag. Both had the SFSG logo on the dial.

Regarding the watch itself...Even if it is legit, I wouldn't (1) pay $21K for it and (2) wear something like that if I didn't earn the right to wear it. But that just my opinion. I'm sure it will find a home. |

*Sigh*
I need to start calling my buddies and tell them their watch is their nest egg. Too bad only two own Rolex and the rest GShock. |

Thankfully I never liked the style but people seem to have no problems dropping $10K on one and wearing that trident pressed against their wrists. |

Even if proved authentic, isn't this really a commemorative or a special modification made by a third party? It looks like a custom mod made for a specific veterans group or a marketing ploy, not for actual use in the field. On the surface it seems very much to be a modification, not a model made by the manufacturer?
I mean $20,000 for a watch with a moded case-back? True military watches go for a premium because of their affiliation not just with a branch but their actual use and rarity, not just because they have a particular branches name on it. It would be an honor to own a genuine Rolex Military watch but I see Eric's point about having not earned the right to do so, it's a solid point but then again the military must get something in return for LUMINOX and JLC's association and naming rights, it's crazy if they don't.

Those custom backs are worthless to me as any military group or such can have them custom ordered straight from Omega and then try to make a huge premium on the sale. Only those with fix spring bars and actual military issue are worth the premium in the pre 70's era.

I'd love to get this if I had 20k for any watch... I would however want proof of SAS service, and If that is established in any way,it's one he'll of a piece in my opinion.

I don't think that many of the Rolex Submariners or Omega Seamasters that were Royal Navy issue are owned by the service men that they were issued to nowadays. What's the difference between owning them or owning this ?

I own a Glycine from WW2 which was issued by the German government and worn by someone in the Heer (army) and it didn't command a $17,000 premium. Far more history in the glycine than any third party modifications. Silly stuff gentlemen, silly stuff

Not sure about wearing a special addition if I never served with the Unit it relates to. Clearly in any event, these are special commissions funded by individuals and are not issued to individuals as such. Just would not work for me but each to his/her own I suppose.

Agree with the others that I'd never buy one or own one of these special issue watches if I never served in the military unit that's presented. I did not earn the right to slap one of these on my wrist plain and simple.
