16610 LV Review

Well, I have had my Green Sub for a full week and have
not taken it off!

It is the same as the 16610, except for the Dial, Minute Hand, and of course, the Green Bezel.

I did not think that I would like the larger minute markers as much as I do. I think they make the watch much easier and quicker to view.

I also love the larger minute hand, but I do not think it makes as much a difference as the dial. I think it looks good with the maxi dial.

As for the bezel, I like the green, however, I find this aspect of the watch subjective and it will not do any better job than the standard bezel.

Overall: Love it.

I would prefer the LV if it had smaller markers and a black bezel.

Actually, quite like the LV if it's like just a couple of hundred bucks more than the 16610....after all, that's all it's really worth!

Almost Gold?

Hey Mike they are great photo's. It seems slightly gold to me. I would think that the gold version would look out of this world

I think I will order one from my AD here.

Trouble is I haven't got the right Lotto numbers yet

Indeed since It's introduction in 2003 the 16610LV has had a couple different shades as well as variations in font reguarding the bezel. I believe the earlier ones had a little lighter shade than current ones. There were also some differences in spacing on the dial.
Mine is an F series.

As far as the raised markers I would guess this comes from the greater surface area of the LV as compared to the standard 16610.

Lume, again due to the greater surface area is enhanced on the LV

Erm, my brother has both watches and the only difference on the markers is the size - they're not more raised, or covered in plastic/acrylic or whatever.
Funny thing is, he bought the LV to wear with the plan of selling his 16610 after he saw it in an AD's window when working in Australia, and on my advice snapped it up. But he dislikes the green bezel and larger markers so much he's never even taken it out of the box - and at the exchange rates he paid Ł3000 for the watch, he's decided to keep it as an 'investment'! - I also own a 16610, and was tempted to buy it off him but share his reticence, after all I can't wear a green watch with a suit and jeans can I?
Haven't got the heart to tell him they are still in production, I've already cost him 3 grand!

RobDad,

Wear mine with a suit and tie or jeans all the time, looks great.

When we are at our house out in the desert in Palm Springs, or our place in Hawaii, things are much more casual and not such a big deal.

I love it!

Best wishes,

The President

With the kind of collection you have, pictures of the same would be welcome! Why don't you post pics?

New 50th aniversary M series.

I bought mine today in Houston, Texas (Dec 26, 2007). I paid $5,525.00 plus taxes. The retailer said they are very rare here in Houston and the one I got came to him by mistake since retailers get only two of them. Don’t know if that was true, but I loved the watch. The one I have has the M series which means was made late 2007. I love the watch. I almost never wear suits since I am a cattleman. I wear meanly jeans and shirts of different colors. I think the watch has a special charm. I would never mind to wear this as my only Rolex for my entire life. I am 36 and yes, this watch is noticed by anyone. The green bezel attracts attention and is when they see the brand Rolex. It should not be the way but I got a very special treatment at Newman Marcus at the Galleries looking t the Louis Vuitton wallets. I looked online and this watch has a very good retail value. EBay $6,000.00 USD. They are supposed to increase in price in mid January according to 3 retailers I have visited so far. (My apologies for any misspelling, my first language is Spanish).

I wear my LV with jeans and nice sports shirts, and then with business suits as well. I think contrast and jangle works well these days. And I am in the conservative proffession of law. Actually, I plan to wear the LV to the Oregon Court of Appeals in a month or so with a very conservative suit....no problem. I live in such a green state that the LV should be named the state watch.

What about movement? Does 16610 LV have same balance spring as the 16610?
I heard the green LV use blue para spring, it that true?
