Congrats! The Speedy 9300 has been on my mind lately (actually, it has been on my mind since I tried on the titanium version a few months ago). I'm lucky enough to have tried on the SS, titanium and DSOM. All three are great in their own way. Overall, the 9300 is just an awesome watch.

Great looking watch with great wrist presence. Looks good in the black croc strap too. Nice choice!

Thanks! So far, the only gripe I have with the watch is winding. Since it's not a screw down crown, you wind it in the "wearing position", which makes it somewhat difficult, imo. The winding is definitely not as easy as my other watches, since the crown demands more strength to turn and is more difficult to grab.

Have you experienced this with yours too?

I DO find the 9300 hard to wind, at least in comparison to everything else in my collection (esp rolex)

I found the same with mine as well. But a minor inconvenience for such a great watch, so please don't let it bother you!

Good to know you guys had a similar experience. It's nothing that I will let affect my overall great first impression of the watch, but something worth noting, since I thought it was unusually cumbersome to wind...

Similar winding experience here too.

But I love it. It speaks for the technology behind the watxh.

100 meter rating, yet you wind it in the wearimg position!?!??

To me, that is ridiculously impressive.

I love the watch.

Congrats and wear in good health.

Congrats. I really enjoy it darker brother. The winding isn't really an issue for me as I have a winder.

The 100m wr rating without a screw down crown is truly awesome. Not to mention the HUGE display back to show off the wonder that is that 9300 caliber, all the while retaining the wr.

At below 7k, after customary Omega discounts, this watch blows competition out of the water.

Why do you guys find the watch hard to wind? Is it because the crown is small (or recessed too far into the crown guards) or because it is stiff? Or both?

The crown is actually pretty big. But the case has natural crown guards, and because it is slightly recessed its a little hard to get a hold of. Not terrible, but when compared to modern rolex models, it's not as easy.

And the turn is stiff. You can really feel the mechanism winding. It's really cool.

So in answer: a bit of both.

Thanks. I'll keep that in mind the next time I'm at the AD. I noticed that the DSOM had a slightly larger crown so it may be easier to wind than the SS/Ti version.

Honestly I don't find the crown to be that stiff and I've owned two SS Speedmaster 9300s.

Yes, exactly this. Nevertheless, like was said before, this is a minor issue, but the collector community has a way of paying attention to this sort of detail. We are a tough crowd haha.

Inspired by a thread that has been going around the Patek forum, the other day I was thinking about how a 3 watch collection would be like. This led me to think if there are ever watches that could suffice on their own, and this seems to be one of those. It looks great, has a chrono, date, can be used as a GMT, has great heritage, all the wr one would need... a serious contender.

I need to wear it more to pass final judgement, but am really liking it.

You have a winner for sure. I love the 2 registers with the bottom date. Such a clean looking piece.
