Who started this wonderful site ?

I usually spend a bit of time each day enjoying the forums. Today I got to thinking - Who started or owns this site? forgive my ignorance if I should know this ! cheers

Might be wrong but I understand it was started as an offshoot of members from another watch forum who disagreed with the materialistic/showy mindset that forum had adopted.
