I can confirm that I have not worn any bracelets and that these are not deep. I can not feel any of them with my nail, other than one small teeny tiny spot that got bumped not scratched. These are at 10x zoom on my iPhone. I’ll give it a bath later today and remove any smudges and post some pics. I found the sweater cuff I posted above to be pretty abrasive and noticed the majority at the 12 and 6 sides where the cuff overlays.

All I could say is, you're being careless........

The 5524g is far more easier to take care compare to Aquanaut & Nautilus bezel....

How am I being careless? I read on this forum all the time that a watch is meant to be worn and the endless slamming of people worried about scratching it. I have worn it daily for the better part of 3 months, mostly with long sleeve shirts. I’ve never seen martinr with sleeves in any of his pics, so I get that could be a big difference, but are you guys walking around in silk shirts or something? Again, that crazy scratched up one is not mine, but the one in the original post is. My bigger watches have no scratches, though they’re mostly summer watches. I just don’t believe mine is alone in this, this sucker is a scratch magnet. I’d love to see some others zoomed in shots.

I’m open to feedback on how I should be caring for such a wonderful watch and being a good host wrist. I guess I’ve been loving this thing all wrong

Starched fabric like a laundered shirt can be abrasive. How much depends upon how tight the sleeve is and the type of material. Think about it, we use soft cloths to polish metal. Well, how about stiff, rough cloth? We need a materials physicist to advise.

I never wear nice watches with sleeves :). And if it’s in a jacket...it’s a shearling :)

Soft cloths can clean metal (remove fingerprints, dirt, etc), but an abrasive is needed to polish metal.

Hang on - is the sleeves scratching watches a thing?? Might have to rethink my wardrobe choices.

I have found the bracelet taking more scratches on gold - WG Daytona and centre links on TT DJ pick up micro scratches pretty easily, while I haven’t notice anything on 5205g over 6 months of light use.

I think the contents of this thread have declared shirt sleeves to be "a thing." So in the far future when horological historians are debating the effect of sleeves on watches they can triangulate the beginning of the discussion to here, today.

Wait, but maybe a starched shirt also scratches the steering wheels of a Ferrari... =)

I wonder if just the UV light and O2/CO2/Nitrogen in the atmosphere can diminish the finish...
Maybe the best thing to do is set up a remote camera in the safe pointing to the watch face and then access that via your phone when you want to know the time.

I picked up a “nice” down jacket online and didn’t realize that it had metal snaps In the cuff.
Now the Burberry jacket just collects dust. It’s NIB lol

For what it's worth... and to add to the madness... I noticed number of new hairline scratches on the polished section of the bezel on my WG aquanaut after recently wearing it under a reasonably snug fitting dress shirt. Glad to hear I'm not going crazy thinking this is a newfound risk!

I’m waiting for someone to start a thread about buying watch winders for their manual wind watch.

If you venture down to the collectors lounge of Wempe they have some
amazing winders/safes etc and can custom
make anything for you including manual winders. Quite impressive.
