114060 Submariner Review
Let me just start by saying that I have had 6 Rolexes over the last three years and four of them were 14060M's and the other two were Sea-Dweller. Over time, they all were flipped. I absolutely loved each and every one of those watches, but I just kept flipping them! I was never really sure why I couldnt be happy for long with any of them when I loved the design so much. Then I tried on the redesigned 114060 and that was it. It has all the beauty of the original but in a more modern, substantial feeling package that works perfectly in my eyes. In pictures, I didnt like the new blocky case but in person it works just fine. The glidelock clasp makes it a joy to wear and it is so easy to size for a perfect fit. It wears a tiny bit bigger than the old model which is nice. I like the ceramic bezel a lot because it doesnt scratch or chip and it even seems to change colors a bit from black to gray in different lighting. I ordered one BNIB from Davidsw almost immediately after seeing the thing in person. I think I finally found a keeper. Here are a few quick cell phone pics of the sub.

One of the best re-designs ever by Rolex. In my opinoin, superior to its predecessor in every way.

I agree there are some nice enhancements on the 114060 versus the 14060m, most notably the bracelet and clasp. And the hands are a bit more robust. But the "m" was my first Rolex, so it's a keeper.

Having had a 14060M back in 2002 and now a 114060. I must say the new updates do the watch justice.
I know the wider lugs aren't favourites of some of the purists Or the bezel for that matter. But designs change shapes just like cars I suppose , only mild ones to fit in with times. Their have been numerous changes over the decades subtle but noticeable, I for one am very happy with my 114060 it's a keeper for sure :) |
