A YG GMT makes a different statement from a DD. I would pick the GMT. My friend has a rose one; mine is yellow. I’ve read that yellow is becoming more popular again, but either are striking.

If one piece, then you should go for the iconic ‘Panda Daytona’. What do you think ?

Most of the PM models being discussed can be had from an AD -- no need to go grey, though you may be able to save a little money on the grey market, depending on the model.

Something in yellow gold, might as well make it a statement piece

Agreed. I’d only consider PM from the Grey market and even then I think we’re going to see PM drop even further in price…wait a few months until July , peak summer time , and prices will drop even further

Agreed, the new rolex collection is like 90% PM. When rolex starts pushing these PM watches, it will just cause the whole gray market for PM to drop. Hell of a lot less people able to pay or willing to stretch for a $40-50k PM watch even below retail than there are people lined up for a $10k sub that anyone middle class can just stick in a credit card. PM is another level and Rolex is making a mistake. Will be similar to Patek where almost all their watches except the nautilus and aquanaut tank on the secondary.

$40k budget for a Rolex, on the Grey market

Yeah. I’m at the point where none of this excites me. Have a Day Date, have a Deep Sea, have a Sub… what’s the point in anything else then I see $50k for some sky dweller. Yeah right. And then $45k for the a rose gold GMT. I’ll just put the nearly $100k into VTI, forget about it, and be a million dollars wealthier when I retire. Switzerland has mastered the art of scamming people. Some of the guys on here with more than $100k worth of nothing more than 5 GMTs and the only difference is bezel color, come on man. It’s just absurd. May not even keep my Deep Sea… pretty pointless watch when the Sub I have literally already has equivalent capability as the deep sea in any situation I would ever be in, including diving. These are tool watches at the end of the day and the jewelry creep has been a real turn off. A Day Date and a Sub is all anyone probably could ever need. Rolex never intended for people to own the entire f’ing catalog. You would buy your sub from the PX and wear it until you were 50, then add a day date. Now everyone wants every stupid color variant of a hand color change and tries to own the entire f’ing website. It is outrageous. AND Rolex won’t even sell you the website even if you do have the money! Let that be a clue. Rolex would prefer one million watches go to one million people, than one million watches goto 100k people, but that’s where we are these days. Sad.

Are you more sport or dress? Or need both?
YG is loud and doesn’t work as a daily for me, but you could go wg DD40 or YG sub etc etc tons of options from Rolex

As long as ROLEX is making their profits, they don't care if their watches go into the trash...

For $40k, pass on a Rolex through grey market dealer. I would (and did) get an AP Royal Oak Offshore 43 mm Smoked Taupe dial :)
