How badly do you want a 5711?
I personally think the 116508 is a more special watch, but if she doesn't get wear, I couldn't blame you for doing it.
At least you will in theory have paid much less than what current grey market asks for a 5711.

Once you get the Nautilus you will realize it's not anything special. Don't fall for the hype.

Bad trade. I like the 5711 (I prefer the 5712), but only at MSRP.

If you’re not wearing the 116508 (and I’m assuming it’s because it’s yellow gold - too showy?), but you like the Daytona, then how about trade for the WG Blue dial Daytona and put some money on your pocket.

Conversely, look to trade for a Rolex meteorite GMT.

Newer 5711 are seeing asks @ $80K plus now.

This could hit $100K...there certainly is enough money and demand chasing them..

If it’s still 2025 and they’re commanding these premiums I’ll be inclined to agree that it’s not coming back down. However, we’re still in the beginning of this trend and it could completely fall apart in the next 3 years with people holding SS watches which won’t be worth what they paid even in their lifetime.

People are concluding way too easily ‘this is the new new’ when it’s only been a couple full years. It’s easy to get caught up in the hype, I still don’t think it’s realistic this lasts. In my opinion it’s already turning with some people as these models aren’t as new and hot now. More common folk have them, it’s not as impressive. People will move on to something else.
Where I live in Europe no AD had to push anybody to get a 5711 blue. Not in 2017 and not before. When I wanted to get one in late 2015 I had to visit several ADs to even get on a wait list as a new customer (I had only bought a preowned Patek before). Truth is the Nautilus craze hit Europe much earlier than other places including the US, and the 5711 blue is obviously more in demand and harder to get than most Nautilus pieces.

Where we agree is that people may well move on to something else at some point.

Both in production.....

I would go with the 5711.....

If the Daytona 116508 is discontinued.. No traded, I keep the green Daytona......

I had a similar offer like you the only difference is... My a mint discontinued Daytona Zenith 16528 (unpolished, original owner, with all the bells and whistles)...

The offer was even trade Daytona Zenith 16528 for 5711 complete set...

or

$70,000 cash......

I turn the offer down because it was my first Rolex plus it was harder to find a mint unpolished complete set.......

Maybe my memory is bad but it seems like, a few years ago, you could buy PM Daytonas for a big discount from list, even relatively new ones. There's no guarantee that the Daytona won't be selling for $30K in the secondary market 3 years from now when, theoretically, the Nautilus price has fallen out of bed and is only worth $40K.

It is impossible to get a 5711 new from an AD these days unless you buy a high end grand coplication

Several weeks ago I visited an AD in south of England, I asked about a 5711 and they said they didn't have a list only sell those for customers who buy high end grand complication pieces

Not in the UK, some one without a previous purchase history can get one within 18 months

The hype is out of control! There is nothing special about a 5711, it’s an entry level PP watch without any unique features.

Of course you should do it. The 116508 is a tacky and unclassy watch.

This.

I would make the deal. I love thin watches. I love the finishing on the Nautilus compared to the Daytona. I like the dial better. SS is the more practical metal for a everyday sports watch. YG I would rather have a DD.

Ultimately only you know the answer to this question. Who cares what we think ???

Thank you all for the input and feedback. I ended up making the deal as I’ve always loved the 5711 and knew I would never be able to obtain one from a Patek dealer or boutique and as prices have only continued to go up I didn’t want to set myself further away.

The Daytona is beautiful but I realized I won’t wear it nearly as much as the nautilus. Those who know, know!
