Daytona splurge help

I know it’s somewhat sacrilegious to spend so much above retail from a grey for a ceramic Daytona. Yet, MSRP is a pipe dream for me. I’m not an ultra VIP or expect to hit the AD lottery. So I’m going to bite the bullet and take the hit. But, should I go for a used PM like a 116528 or a new ceramic 116500? Both sing to me so it’s a tough call.

i'd go for the PM. TBH...the PM is in a class of it's own and i like the fact that it exudes a vibe that IDGAF about stainless steel. I love the 116500 but at 2x retail its not worth the hype. It's the best watch for retail....but when you're looking at 25/26K...not worth it.

I'd rather have the gold for the same/close price.

I have the current 116508 with the black/champagne dial. I love it. I’ve owned both black and white dial 116520 models, but I like the heft and feel of how the gold watches wear better than the stainless models.

Don’t get me wrong. I think the stainless steel Daytona is a great watch, but it only makes sense for me buying it at retail.

I think I'd go PM too but I'd try to get a WG piece as I prefer them to the YG.

The price of the SS Daytona increased too much too fast over the past few months. It doesn't look like the right time to buy one. It will more likely go back down to $20k (maybe lower) rather than go up to $30k in the near future. Something tells me we'll find out really soon, probably by summer's end. I agree with everyone that buying a PM model now makes more sense.

I have both new and old SS and new and old PM’s. I’m either smart or a total a-hole.
Time will tell.
If you are only getting one, go for the gold in terms of covering your back door of market. If you are wanting a watch you plan to wear for years to come and not focusing on the up and down of the market, and simply want a kick ass watch you want to wear every day and be happy and proud of, go SS because it is more durable in me experience. Of the numerous Daytona’s I own, my every day is the white face ceramic. The PM’s are tucked away. Every now and then I wear them but my rotation is as stated above, with a smurf and SS submariner ceramic sprinkled in. The below gets me off every time I look at it.

PM-Just on principle! I would add from an AD as well. I have been a customer of the Greys in the past but no more!

PM, slightly pre-owned with box, papers and warranty. Better value and less money to be lost on a flip or resale latter when the market adjusts.

Daytona splurge help

The PM was only a few grand above SS gray dealer price. So I said what the heck and got PM. Couldn’t be happier.
