Retail price difference among the gold models?

Very curious as to why yellow gold models are cheaper retail as compared to WG and RG?

If I rmb correctly, all gold models were retailing for the same before the price hike in June.

Yellow gold models have always been priced slightly lower than RG and WG.

I think they justify the increased price on white and rose by the additional work needed to make gold another color than yellow. Note each company has their own tone of rose. PP has a very subtle rose hue as compared to Rolex.

I see thanks for the answers. Yes, my 5146R can appear very different under various lighting conditions (outdoors under the sun the watch at times is almost WG like)

I have a rose gold Cartier band and when placed beside the watch it can pass off as YG.

I think that the "coloured" golds (R and G) are more expensive because (a) they are slightly harder to machine and work with than normal "soft" yellow gold alloys and (b) at least for G the non-gold portions of the alloy are potentially more expensive than the 12.5% silver and 12.5% copper found in typical 18kt yellow gold alloys. I.e. the current Patek G alloy is nowadays a "grey gold" likely to contain a fair amount of palladium (probably around ~15%), a rare element currently more expensive than platinum per ounce and almost as expensive as 24kt gold.

Boys, I have a 5164 R on order, should have been here this month,
Not sure how long you owned? Have you noticed in fade in the RG? Thank you.

Have had my 5164R since the initial release (2016?) and it hasn’t changed a bit.

I do not think modern alloys fade as some did years ago. A light polish will restore the original rose gold color however.
