I think between those two, I choose the Patek 100x out of 100.

This is an interesting question......

..........but also for another reason.

I recently acquired my first Nautilus (5726A) and am blown away by the watch.
The finishing is absolutely unreal and I'm a huge fan of the Nautilus dial layout and markers (minus the hard to read month/day).

The watch is meant to be worn as a daily given that it's an AC sports watch, BUT..............

..........I'm finding myself reluctant to do so.
After wearing Rolex SS sports models --mostly my hulk and the 116500 and hopefully soon a BLRO-- I've been spoiled by the unique combination that only Rolex provides of luxury, comfort, reliability, and durability at a price point that doesn't cause me to sweat if I scratch the bracelet (I've worn the hell out of my hulk going on 4 years-- even to the gym).

With a Nautilus-- which is more scratch prone-- I'm far more concerned/aware of the watch being on my wrist given its greater susceptibility to scratches and given what I paid for it.
It's a watch that is definitely more 'special' than anything Rolex can put out--at least in terms of SS models-- but it's also more of a 'hassle' to wear, if that makes sense.

Now, if I was a multi multi millionaire/billionaire, I would perhaps feel differently-- I don't know.

All I know is that I love the fact that Rolex SS models are meant to be worn care free, which I find to be a more important aspect of wearing a luxury watch with each passing day.

I have an AP 15202, and that watch is incredible/special/'dressy' and I wear it that way-- maybe once a week or so when I go out.
If I were to get my hands on a 5712A or 5711A, I would absolutely grab it and wear it in rotation, but it wouldn't be my daily.

Thanks for your thoughts!!
That should be the attitude:
Care free wearing of watches!

I had both and now the DD40 remains. The 5170p is my favorite Patek on strap but it didn’t get much wrist time.

It would be very easy for me to choose that Rolex. I just don't care for PP.

The only SS Patek I would consider is the 5212A with the handwritten dial. Nice charming piece.

From all the watches you showed I am surprised that you did not immediately fell for the 116619LB.
All the watch you ever going to need

That is my favorite Patek too and I’m going to get one after the summer. Well, I mean after the unobtainable 42mm Nautilus...

I'm with you 100%.
PP watches do nothing for me. I can appreciate the intricate horology and the genius of the complications but ultimately, emotionally .... it all leaves me cold.

Never understand the responses in these types of threads. Both Patek and Rolex make some wonderful pieces but generally at different price points and/or aimed at different market segments. Patek makes pieces that cover the full gamut of watchmaking from simple time only to split second chronos, tourbillons and minute repeaters - Rolex does not.
I appreciate both brands, own both brands but wouldn’t ever directly compare them model to model.
If you need a wonderful tool watch then Rolex is king, if you love watches for the miracle of mechanical workmanship then Patek rules.

Not a struggle! The two Patek's I would own are the Nautilus and the Aquanaut and they are virtually as elusive as the coolest Rolex's.

Well said, but I think these kind of threads are important:
We need a place where we can mirror our thoughts&feelings of different brands. Even though theoretically Rolex&Patek are totally different brands, still it is important&interesting to think these brands side by side. Practically thinking (be it Patek, Rolex, AP...) the watch ends up the same place: on my wrist. Personal experiences are important knowledge to share. Practical approach to watches.

Frankly I don’t understand the whole Patek thing. It amaze me that some people will spend well over 70k+ to six figures for a stainless steel watch with only a date complication. It baffles me.

The PP is so so. Too much in your face. The Daytona is stunning and a keeper.
