I am starting to warm up to this piece. Not sure I can be comfortable with the rubber strap, I suppose it could be put on leather . . .

I am trying to decide between Nautilus dial colors and this piece. Tough choices

Why?

I just cannot get comfortable with the idea of rubber on a watch that costs that much, aside from the fact I do not like the feel of rubber on my arm. In fairness I have not tried one on so maybe I would change my mind, but I would like to hear why the croc strap did not work for you?

I recently tried it on a few different leather straps, imho he leather that works best is something that dresses it down, light brown/beige.... Dressing it up with dress straps took away from the overall look.

I tried with the mottled faded underside of a leather nato & it looked great!
But the nato wouldnt buckle upside down & it was only 20mm... Got to have 21mm.

Sorry but I think it looks too small on you...
It already looks a bit smallish on puffy's 7' wrist..
Maybe with bracelet it'll look bigger.

Great review just like I like them; short, to the point, and lots of pictures.

I agree, "- lume: this actually works!!!"

You can always go with bracelet. I prefer the tropical strap though as the watch is superbly comfortable.

If I go with a bracelet, I will just get a Nautilus

The Aquanaut is a low end entry level PP watch. PP realized that they are losing the younger crowd to Rolex and other sports watches and that their current client base is eventually dying off. Aquanauts are disregarded at auction houses and the scuttle is they will be soon discontinued. The Nautilus seems to be to garnering more sales and attention from what I see based on auction data.

didn't know there was such as thing as a £14,000 / $23,000 entry level watch

the Aquanaut is a great reference, we should see a new complication in a year or two i'm sure

There is something magical about putting this watch on. You can't tell from a picture, it has to be experienced.

Low end?
It uses the same movement & case elements of pieces in pateks line costing 10x as much, seriously, imho your claim is meritless.

And I hope they are discontinued immediately.

It also has proper water resistance for a daily wear including showering & swimming as well as unique strap that enables it to be worn in places no leather clad patek would go.

Couldn't agree more! I have several Patek timepieces, yet the Aquanaut gets the majority of wrist time. For a daily wear piece, it is tough to beat the 5167!

I have to agree, I have several different great watches and two PP, and my favorite is my 5164 Aquanaut. Love the look and feel of this model. I also love the nicely done new complication.

Hi all I'm new to this forum. Decided to buy a PP for my 38 birthday and have been doing some research. Now deciding between the aquanaut and the nautilus. Of course the aquanaut is a more comfortable budget but yet I'm hoping to get one that has a better resale value in case times are hard ( one can never be too sure nowadays). So wondering if there's any advise on which will be a better investment choice. Also, I've snooped around and realize there's a range of PP watches called the Black Venom. Are those a good choice for cos I really love the look of black on the watch. I'm tempted to get a piece of that which I understand is in limited edition. But I'm worried that it may not have good value in the long run. Any advise is appreciated. Www.blackvenomwatch.com

Several respected AD's have confirmed this information to me that has quite stirred things up.

First, which Patek's costing 10x as much contain this movement, be specific. When I say "low end" IMO, $21K is easily attainable for a watch.

Finally, the date sticking issue is a real problem with these watches. Who spends 21K for that ? Seriously... These watches are not respected come auction time.

Some folks are more concerned with 3rd party opinions & it seems to inhibit their ability to make up their own mind and choose a watch that suits their needs.

To each his own

Why do you have two different user names with a join date a month apart, did the AD tell you thats what you should do, or was it the auction house?

Interesting since I was in Tiffany,s in NYC about a month ago and asked if they had any 5164 or 5167. I was told that when they come in they are immediately sold. His words "they are very popular." The PP part of Tiffany is an entire floor of watches on display. It is the biggest display of Patek I have ever seen.
