for me eitehr or you cant go wrong , as with all things hard to get patek short production numbers. restricted allocation and as soon as things get discontinued the prices will always rocket .

all of thes grand complications were made for only a few yrs sometimes less and allocation of them are hard and unless you have a good AD getting any small production numbers model will be hard .

the 5970 is a peach so is the 5270 which will be more or less much of the same i think in say 5-7 yrs time ,

i asked about the 5270 at my Ads a few months back he made a few calls , filled out the form for me etc wehre he is asked about my buying history and how long hes known me etc
and came back with a 13 month lead time as patek only release 3-5 units into the UK per yr ,

so whole world production ive been told is circa 70 or so pieces of the 5270 per annum say in production for 6-8 yrs you are looking at only 500 give or take pieces world wide , which is imho why patek is most coveted brand on the planet .

So I went watch shopping. I got to see the 5970 g and r. Nice watches but a bit small on the wrist for me personally. If only buying for collection i would say yes but i wear every piece i own. The watch sits very high on the wrist especially compared to my 5980r. I also saw the 3970p. Awesome piece too. Not much smaller aesthetically to the 5970. Unfortunately I was unable to see the 5270g. It did not arrive in time. I won't make a decision until I see the watch. The good news is that prices are down. I was offered a 5970p at a really low price. I am told by many super high end watch collectors that they are selling because they feel like they should take profits of the last 4 years and move up. Also they feel like prices are way too high right now due to Patek's rapid increases over the last 4 years. We shall see. Stay tuned.

The 5970 is legendary! I went with the 5270 because I have a weakness for blue and I really liked how the watch wore at 41mm. And who knows, maybe the Leno dial will appreciate in value!!

I thought you already owned both?

What happens to the value of the the first 2 versions of the 5270 (no tacky markers, then the chin) now that there is fixed version 3?

Whats too bad is that the new 5270's don't have anymore the black hours markers and hands, I thought that looked great, but the chin didn't and the dial is nicer without it, in any case both beautiful, my choice would be the 5270 but with blue dial, it's a stunner on pics, if they didn't have the blue I would probably say 5970P with black dial

Which one is it? Old one or new one? And in what color? I don't understand why people say they only make it in white now as they show pics of the blue on their site so I suppose the blue in new version is also available

Will Patek discontinue the Leno chin 5270s now that they have released the new version of the 5270G blue dial without the chin?
