Unless you have to have the complications, to me the 5711 is much nicer/cleaner.
Seems like they just slapped the complications on the dial aimlessly without any thought to visual design.

For me 'less is more'

The 5712 is always interesting to look at. The fact that it is not symmetrical is why I love it. The 5711 over time would be a lot less interesting to me. Pick what you like best!

5712 is very awesome piece but I'd go for 5711.

5711 all the way

Thanks also for pointing out symmetry of the 5712 viewed from a different angle. It makes sense.

5712/1A redux

A couple of cool shots I found on the `net. Admittedly, this watch isn't for everyone...

the movement on the 5712 is much more interesting with that micro rotor...

Mauiguy, I love the photos posted of the 5712. The 240 movement is very nice as well.

I would wait and get the 5726... (5711 if you must...).

I can't stand the asymmetry of the 5712, it drives my OCD bonkers.....

5726 has excellent symmetry and complications...

Prefer 5711. Don't like the asymmetry either. If I were spending the extra money on a Nautilus, I would spend a little more for the 5726 without a doubt.

I agree, I am contemplating of adding another 5726 albeit on a strap if PP doesn't release a 5980 SS strap version next year.

Seems a few strap models hit the pre-loved market when the bracelet hit retail on the 5726. Good time to be in the market for a 5726 strap model with all (relative) the choices out there.

I already purchased the 5711 blue face. For a complication, hopefully my next purchase, I would rather not get a complication on a 5711 but maybe a 5205R (black dial) or 5960R (similarly black Dial). I seem to like the Rose Gold/Black Dial combination.

Need to clear out some funds first, but yes timing for a strap model is good at the moment.

No help here but the 5726 on bracelet is a very smart looking piece indeed.

5711 for me. I'm not particularly fond of the complications on the 12. The only advantage of 12 is the beautiful microrotor on the caseback.

All this micro-rotor love! I thought micro-rotor mechanisms were not as efficient as full rotors for winding a watch?

Or is it just the cool factor of keeping the movement thin?

Personally, if I'm looking thru glass at my movement, I'd rather see a huge mass of high-carat gold with some engraving or engine-turning!

New member here, and only now found this thread. After much painstaking research and deliberation, and realizing, IMHO, that you really cannot go wrong, I went with the 5712/1a vs. the 5711/1a and the RO15202st. I feel fortunate to have found one (5712/1a), really. I like NOT seeing the sweeping second hand on the 5712/1a, but instead seeing it in a complication. And, I really like Mauiguy's observation re: the unbalanced concerns - look at it from 7 o'clock instead of 6 o'clock, and it's perfectly balanced. That to me makes the design of the watch even that much more brilliant - much thought and consideration went into it. Again, the 5711 is an icon, so you really cannot go wrong. Personal preference.
