Patek Philippe Aquanaut 5167a vs 5164????

Hey Guys

These two references have been floating around my head for a little while and both have their own great qualities. I know which I am leaning towards but would love to see what the TRF consensus is

They're both fantastic, but if price weren't an issue I'd rather have the travel time since I find the extra complication useful.

Wishing I had a GMT function for a recent trip to Italy, but would have been worried wearing it in Naples. The price difference is not worth the convenience. Just memorize the formula for calculating the home time and all is good.

I actually quite like both however prefer the 5167 hence why I purchased it (I much preferred the simple, clean dial).

5164 if taking the price tag out of the equation, but either one would keep a smile on my face.
I've gone back and forth on the same decision myself.

the price difference is not insignificant between the 5164 & 5167, but, in a "perfect" world, i would have the 5164 + 5711.

Plain dials tend to work better for me, so the 5167 gets my vote. The 5164 is one heck of a great looking GMT though.

There is a big difference In weight between the two. The 5167 is a cleaner piece. The pushers detract from the overall aesthetics IMO. Besides, how difficult is to count forward or backward ? I just use my iPhone if I really need to know the home time on the fly.

i have the 5167, the 5164 is very nice… tough decision,

for me price definitely weighed in on this one, and when it comes to GMT i can't help but feel that rolex owns the court.

I find the GMT function on the 5164 the best of any GMT I own...so it's a slam dunk for travel plus it flies under the radar and is nice and light weight.

The effective simplicity of the 5167 makes it perfect for all scenarios. I like the 5164 too but feel that the extra thickness and gmt complication does detract from its simplicity.

I really love nearly all aspects of the 5164. The GMT function is the best I own since the home time hand can be hidden when not in use. It is one of the simplest to operate either up or gown. I absolutely love the "globe in a globe" type pattern of the dial. It is one of the most comfortable watches I have ever owned. All in all nearly a perfect watch.

I love both but have little or no real world use for the GMT function. Have owned a Chronograph, two GMTs and a watch with an alarm function - no use for any of it. IMO clean, simple dials are usually the best and most attractive. For those who find these functions/complications useful or just plain desirable from a technical standpoint - of course
