Just got 5711 white dial, would you sell for yellow gold day date 40mm?
Hi Guys.
I just bought my first patek 5711 white dial. I had a rolex gmt blnr that I traded in to get the 5711. I have always wanted a gold watch, but think it might be a bit much for a 31 year old. Would you trade the 5711 in for a yellow gold day date 40mm? Should I keep the 5711 and save for the day date? Keep the 5711 and buy another blnr? Let me know. Thank you |

Keep the 5711 and save for the DD. Who knows, by the time you can add a DD to your collection, you may not want it anymore. The 5711, in any dial combo, is hard to find. A DD you can pretty much walk into any Rolex store and get

You just got it and already are considering a trade? Obviously it's not a keeper. Whatever you decide right now you won't have that Nautilus for long methinks.

keep it - its a lovely watch
Get the BLNR and then save up / decide if you want a gold watch I personally could not pull off a YG DD as it would have to much of a bling factor for my own taste |

Keep the 5711 (assuming this was a watch you wanted). YG DDs are a dime a dozen although nice pieces but a bit too loud for my taste

You haven't really said whether you like the 5711. If you do then its a keeper. If you're not entirely happy with it - then the answer is easy regardless of whether the 5711 is considered a superior piece to the DD.

Never! You own one of the most beautiful watches out there and one which will soon become an even rarer piece, especially in ebony/white, when 5711 is replaced by a newer reference.

If you get lots of wear out of the Patek, I'd recommend keeping it. Only flip if it's not getting wrist time

I would not let go of a 5711. If you want a gold watch, save and add.

I've had/have Patek, they have never fully excited me for some reason. It sings to a lot of people, and others not as much. |

Well like always to each his own, I really didn't like the Nautilus design for around 2 years, couldn't get why people would want to get them, esp at that price, but after seeing them almost daily here the design started to slowly get to me, and now, after owning a 5712 for more than a year, having sold it for an investment, missed it a lot, I am quite happy to get it back quite soon, one is waiting for me at an AD, so if it's not for you I totally get it, but I find them amazing, ok not a huge fan of the white dial models except the 5726, but ill still prefer a white dial 5711 to basically any Rolex

Without knowing more about your situation, I'd recommend slowing down a bit and save up for the DD. Flipping at this level can leave a mark. It's one thing to lose a couple grand, it's a whole new level losing on a DD flip. You'd probably not lose much with a Nautilus flip depending on who how you flip it. Either way, good luck. There really is never a wrong answer.

I would get and keep the watch that you really like and not what other people tell you is the better watch. If you really like the 5711 SS, keep it. But if it does nothing for you and you have your heart set on a YG/RG watch, then go for the DD.

Wear what you have for awhile and decide. The DD is a great watch.

Patek could easily discontinue this reference. They don't want to be known as a one watch company and I have heard Thierry say this repeatedly. We all know they could easily make more 5711's to meet demand but absolutely will not. May seem crazy, but wouldn't surprise me at all. |
