Icon2 SIHH 2017 Thread - Rumors, Facts, Etc...

Well next week is a good week (for two of my fav brands--AP and RM) at SIHH.

Will AP quasi disappoint as they have in past few years? RM I don't expect much as they never really announce much at SIHH--they go on their own schedule.

Already confirmed from AD 26401CE is discontinued. Love that watch. Maybe time to add one

Hope we can all post what we hear from contacts at SIHH as things progress

For you perhaps. No way I can wear that. Except Superman himself.

What I heard quite likely is a refresh of the dress watch line from Jules Audemars. But I wasn't expecting much since it appears we will not see the inhouse chronograph movement as it's delayed. Again.

Great thread Paul! Let the games begin.

Interesting is AP abandoning ceramic cases altogether?

I think the CEO mentioned that in one of his interview. Sorry, I can't recall exactly.

Seems yes as they abandoned the diver very quickly, I wonder if they will replace with something new, what is nice with AP are the innovative materials, if they just do normal ones the brand will, IMHO, loose some of it's appeal

I heard a rumor that the 26320 is being discontinued and replaced with something else.

And what we already know? Gold 44 ROO with grey dial and subdials as someone who saw promo pics at the boutique mentioned...

That I don't know, but they have really struggled with the ceramic from a manufacturing standpoint, so I would not at all be surprised. Would be a shame.

No, it's still RG... and one member how saw the pics says the subdials are darker so they blend with the dial (didn't catch exactly is the dial still black or dark grey)

Kind of disenchanted with how I was treated at the 57th Street boutique, so I'll let this secret fly - they have a new ombre dial coming out that's pretty unique and stunning. I believe it's on a 42mm roc, but I only got a quick glance.

They probably won't abandon it altogether. They been using carbon and ceramic for years and years. They spent so much money in the infrastructure to produce these 2 cases. But they have to change things up.

They can't just keep releasing the same watch with a different dial over and over again.

The brand will lose it's appeal if they do that. Plus when they discontinue them, they hold their value, which increases the appeal of the watch.

There will be one this year, and it's not a 44mm.

I presume you’re familiar with the fact that companies put out misinformation, across many industries?
It’d be highly stupid of a CEO to reveal well in advance of the show that they were going to introduce the new in-house chronograph. What do you imagine such news would do to sales, especially leading up to the most important time of year for the retail sector?

Think about it Ben, something like that you’d definitely keep your powder dry over, and throw enquiring minds off the scent!

The dealer boutique where I buy from told me at least a month ago that the current roc is now discontinued. Don't know if this is widely known or not.

I heard from a high up source that they will be releasing a full ceramic 44 with a ceramic bracelet.

I hope not. Panerai has an all ceramic with bracelet and just doesn't do it for me.
