Why would anyone be bidding on this?
Look how rough the case is. Crappy dial. Not running. The current bid is $550. Why would anyone be bidding on this? I just don't get it. The value isn't there. The stupidity of some people never ceases to amaze me.

its not fake, not sure why its in watch out. (edit dial maybe but its knackered anyway!)
I'd pay $550 for that, have repaired a lot worse. |

I saw that one last night and wondered the same thing, then I looked more closely at the pictures.
It's in pretty rough condition, but it is genuine as far as I can tell.

Back in July 2mths ago was looking for similar, a beatup girly Oyster donor towards a vanity project... this would've been perfect, though probably could do without twotone or date. $550 is nothing, just basic steel no date were going double that in worse nick. If vendor's luck holds up, this horse has legs to go much further before end of auction |

that's legit? It looks to me like a bit of the gold plate on what should be a solid gold bezel has peeled off, and how 'bout the positioning of the date? I don't presume to know a fraction of what the experts here do, but to me that looks awful.

The date is in the middle of a change, the time is probably 3.30am. Can be repaired.

Bid is currently $730 plus $10 shipping. Add $500 minimum for service plus shipping and you'd be in it for at least $1,250. Remember that is if it needs zero parts or repairs other than a standard service. When you get it back you'd have a really beat up (or really polished) case, a poorly refinished dial, and a stretched bracelet.

Now up to $770 can't believe the price is that high for a 6916 in that bad condition. The watch is probably only worth $2500 (if that) in good condition and thats after you put atlas more than the watch is worth in its current state fixing it !!!!

Why do people think everything on that website is 100% trustworthy?

Im thinking there are a few shill bidders on this watch. I see at least 4 new accounts that have raised the bids. Just look at the bid history. Looks fishy.

Even when the item is "sold" and the auction ends, do you actually think any money ever changes hands? Very easy to pad sales and feedback on that site.

Other than the bidders who have been on eBay for (less than 30 days) who bid on the piece during opportunistic times throughout the auction.

Looks like good fight nothing untoward. Love it even more when winner snipes it for LESS than 1 bid increment now that's a photo finish. With under 3s to go even better! |
