Rubber Clad Action

I just picked up this beautiful piece after a very long search. It’s complete and it’s condition is 100%. What do you guys think?

Looks awesome, congrats! I’ve just got the RG Rubberclad myself after wanting one for 10 years.

Nice! Careful with the rubber bezel though as it will go shiny over time and need replacing eventually. Great choice.

What does “go shiny” mean?

The rubber bezel is known for going shiny after a period of use and will need to be replaced to make it matt again.

Fantastic piece but be careful with it! The bezels will not take a beating like the 44.

I owned the 44mm. Way too big for me and anyone else under 7'6" tall. lol

Having said that I wish this bezel was ceramic. I also thought the rubber would be somewhat durable. Im wrong???

The rubber IS durable to an extent and it doesn't scratch like SS but if you knock it badly you can take a chunk out of it and it will go shiny eventually. That said a rubberclad with a new bezel is one of the best looking 42 Offshores. (I used to own a rgrc so I'm speaking from experience not here say).

I completely agree. This has more than doubled my expectations on how I thought it would look in person. I would hate to see this thing messed up.

If they made this bezel ceramic I think this would be the hottest selling offshore bar none.

Ask for the bezel to be replaced with a Buemi ceramic one when it is serviced !
AP apparently will do this.
Problem fixed.

They will defo do it for the rose gold RC - if they'll also do it for the SS one then that would be awesome.

Congrats Brett and great watch. I have owned many Rubber Clads over the years and never had any issue w bezel. Fear not and enjoy!

PS leave the bezel the way it was meant. It’s a Rubber Clad not Ceramic Clad!

Brother I very much value your opinion on this. Thanks man. I think it fits me perfect and as I said before is far better looking in person than the pictures. IMHO

Congrats, great AP
Don’t worry about it - I wore the same watch almost 5 years straight with no issues. It is the most durable everyday ROO I have owned, pre ceramic bez. Just wear with normal care & it should be fine. It does loose the Matt finish over time but still looks great. I had no damage to the bez after all those years.

My RG one wasn’t worn as much but again no worries about bez damage

Enjoy your new watch

great find! Looks perfect and such a classic ROO!

The rubber bezel, pushers, crown and strap will wear/get more shiny after time but its not a big deal and all can be replaced when serviced if you do care.

Gorgeous piece! I've tried one on and although I loved it I wasn't ready to pull the trigger.

I've not seen this model in real life but imagine it might look nice with a bit of shine or gloss to the bezel anyway.

If you find the deployment uncomfortable on the tapered strap try putting it on a Diver Rubber strap with tang buckle- way more comfy & stable on the wrist. I wore mine like this for a couple of years

One of my favorites too! I don't know why people have issues with the clasp, it's always been comfortable for me.
